Wow, where do we start!' We have lived here several months now and absolutely nothing has gotten better. I think that the Attorney General needs to open an investigation of this place, for false advertisement. I'm being quite serious. The things that they advertise as "luxury" are absolutely not true. You DON'T GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Read on & see what I mean. (Keep in mind we re supposed to have an UPGRADED apartment, for which we pay extra.) Okay here goes...
1) VERY, VERY POOR QUALITY FIXTURES -i.e.- thermostat is OLD & affixed near the garage/front door so it doesn't properly read so it's off by 5 degrees; their "central air & heating" means that they have this big, noisy system affixed in the ceiling of the 2nd bathrm where they have a small pipe that "drains" the excess air-condition water from unit, straight into the bath tub! (Yeah, you read right..there's this white plastic pipe jutting out of the ceiling over the bathtub!)
We've never seen anything like it!; bathtubs are cheap, instead of having an incline draining water INTO tub, water collects & runs outside of tub so caused molding of bad caulk job & wet floors; very loose bathtub curtain rods fell on my head several mornings, so we stuffed something on both ends to tighten the fit; their "upgrade" fixtures (overhead lights/fans, faucet heads, cabinet handles, granite kitchen countertops) are very low quality (handle on bathrm faucet is loose & crooked); garbage disposal switch has to be pushed upwards really hard to work; garbage disposal leaked into underneath the sink (fixed since then); carpet is REALLY cheap & clumps of it clog up the vacuum cleaner when we vacuum; fridge was leaking water inside & our food went bad, it took over 2 months then they finally replaced the fridge altogether (fixed now); no oven window can we get to the 21st century already'
2) EXTREMELY SHOTTY WORKMANSHIP - i.e.-living rm window showed signs of water damage, like window sill bubbling but when we told them they just came to caulk it over & when heavy rain came the other day, water came in our apt; cabinets aren't assembled properly & are crooked and cracked (yeah, they didn't bother to use proper size nails, they used BIG screws, etc.); blinds aren't right size for windows (too small) & besides they aren't affixed to windows properly!; uneven patching of where holes were on the walls; caked-on caulking (seriously, you have to see it to believe it)that in some places it turned yellow, cracking & other spots weren't covered at all; the "upgrade" granite countertops are just propped up on these 2 planks of wood, so badly assembled you can see those planks of wood; doors so thickly painted then closed instead of leaving open to dry properly that the paint came right off when we first moved in;
3) building structure showing signs of stress- i.e.-seams of walls cracking in some places -showing up inbtwn doors, etc.; walls are SO thin that you & your neighbors can hear EVERYTHING that happens -i.e.- neighbors upstairs taking a piss in their toilet & water/piss draining all the way down the pipes when flushed, baby/kids/adults crying & walking around upstairs, closet/cabinet doors closing, people talking/walking by outside of our bedrm
4) LIES, CARELESSNESS, RUDENESS- When we 1st looked at apt.:
1) she pointed out the alarm system & gave us impression that it was a feature of apt. because she even told us that it s already installed, just call up company & turn it on they even had nerve to list it on walk-through checklist - the alarm co. told us that it was missing some components, so we told leasing office, they told us that they have nothing to do w/ alarm sys. & that we needed to pay for everything ourselves!, 2)she told us water was based on our own usage but it s not, it gets divided among the whole building so a family of 4 w/ kids can run up the water bill versus 2 people using minimally, 3) they told us the little station at gates used to be dry-cleaner pick-up station but now it s not used at all hilarious, we laughed for weeks since that WAS a security-guard station but they re too cheap to hire a guard now so no guard for your security;
also, our neighbor keeps parking in our driveway, blocking our cars but the office won t get involved at all; We should ve known when leasing office tried to rush us through our lease signing she made comments like we must be lawyers or that we were extremely cautious people - we didn t appreciate some junior college graduate pressuring us to skip through a legally binding contract, being that we have 5 degrees betwn the 2 of us - these people are idiots.
We have to constantly call the maintenance to come fix things. The maintenance guy who usually gets sent here is pretty cool about it, but it s the management. They don t care that things are constantly breaking down because they cheap out on many, many things. They just take your money & tell lies. Save your money & your sanity. It s like living in the projects.

Yeah, I totally agree with this review. When we moved in, the wall that we PAID them to paint for decoration purposes, was so sloppy. They did not bother to take coverings (outlet covers, vent cover, etc.) off the wall & just tried to paint around it! (Neighborhood kids could have done a better job coloring in w/ their crayons!)Other things mention here is right on. They say it is a master-planned community. Ha! Stop fixing the outside to lure people in & start fixing some inside stuff!

This review is very helpful. I visited The Old Farm yesterday, 4-28-07. Jess was giving me a tour of the place, when a newly resident, said "Excuse me, is it ok if I can pick up my keys with you, my wife and I are moving in today." I was ok with her taking a minute out, to hand them their keys and chat for a minute. She was so rude by saying, "You're gonna have to wait." I was shocked. By me being a potential resident, I thought maybe she would ask if it was ok to step away for a quick minute. That traveled throughout my mind, the whole tour. The deals were so great though! I see why, the turnover rate must be increasing.
