Worst place I have ever lived

Even moved out before my lease was up just so I wouldn't have to stay. My list of horrors includes a FLOOD that caused damage to my apartment and belongings that was never fixed, two ROBBERIES, the UNFRIENDLY, USELESS office STAFF falsifying and shredding my lease documents, many unfulfilled promises, and a four month ROACH INFESTATION that was never even lessened...I was still killing at the very least 6 roaches a day when I moved out. The exercise room equipment was always broken, the dumbbells were half stolen, and all REPAIR REQUESTS took at the minimum 6 CALLS OR VISITS and AT LEAST TWO WEEKS to be processed--completely ridiculous! People are LOUD, INCONSIDERATE, and LITTER, I heard GUNSHOTS at least three times, and found BLOOD on the sidewalk twice. In short, my experience was AN UTTER NIGHTMARE!!!! RUN!!!!!

Katherine's response must be from management. The Palms is easily the most ridiculous apartment around. Yes, there is a new manager, probably manager number 4 since the couple of years i've been there. But once again, but they use that excuse not to get anything done. They keep making excuses like "because of the changes we are going through this, this and that is taking long(meaning never done)". Advice for people who live here, if they promise something, get it in writing. As far as the gunshots, that is also true. Last year there was literally like a drive by shoothing, i mean it was scarry and funny to me because i could not believe it, it was like a movie. Some people apparently trying to get someone. There was bullets dents on that apartment's door. The cops came, and even the ambulance because i think the resident or someone got hurt. So the next day, you would think they should give the residents a heads up on what happened, but nothing. I waited a couple of days without hearing from management, so i finally called them to ask, how come they never reported the incident to the residents. And at first, the lady i spoke to try to tell me, she did not know what i was talking about. So i told her that's bulls***. People heard the shots, saw the cops and the ambulance, and that i even saw them replacing the door for the apartment. So then her response was, that it was up to me to call the cops if i wanted details. I was very upset, because that let me know they do not report incidents. The reality is, i do not see how anyone can say anything good about this apartment unless they work there. The horror just keeps going on and on. I don't even usually write reviews online, but for the Palms people NEED TO BE WARNED. I am also wanting to break out of my lease, because i have had enough.

Okay, Ms. "Katherine", whom I agree must be management...first of all, you cannot aver that what I said is not true, because you didn't live in my apartment and have no idea what I experienced. And if your grammar and spelling are any indication, you do indeed appear to be "ghetto". Please do not attack me for trying to warn people against living in what literally, truly was the worst place I ever rented. And the other person who responded above raises another good point--there were several crimes that occurred during my time at the Palms, including a really big cocaine bust that my parents actually had to witness in my first couple of weeks there--always great for the parents' first impression of your apartment to be a felony. And the entire reason I complained about the roaches, "Katherine", is because I AM a clean person and the insanity of my roach infestation was utterly disgusting to me. Months and months of killing over a dozen roaches a day. Really and honestly unbelievable; I've lived in converted detached garages and never had a single insect. I'll say it again, because it bears repeating: horrible, unsafe, poorly-run (when I left less than a month ago there was no manager, so I'm completely unaware of who this new person could be--I'm with the second reviewer; in the one year I lived there we had 3 managers and the position was left empty for months before I left), and, dare I say, ghetto property. If you live there and you like it, great...but I seriously doubt the vast majority (especially the vast majority of "$55k yr professionals" who can't even spell, such as our dear "Katherine" here who felt the need to attack) would even consider The Palms for a moment knowing what I've experienced. It really is that bad. I have gone out of my way to find avenues such as this to try to save people the profound disgust, disappointment, and suffering that I experienced in my one fateful year at that terrible place. JUST DON'T EVEN CONSIDER GOING THERE. And if you do, tell "Katherine" in the office to be less conspicuous when she posts venomous reviews online.

I live at The Palms and have been here for a little over 6 months. I have not had a roach problem. I don't leave food out and keep a pretty clean home so I'm sure that helps. Also, I noticed the picture somebody had posted with the ridiculous amounts of trash at the dumpster...I asked management about that and she said that was during the hurricane. So that makes sense and is understandable. I have NEVER seen trash like that or even furniture..which surprises me since it's such a large property. I agree with whomever said before that it's not the BEST place I've ever lived in BUT it's the best location for the most reasonable price. I moved from out of state and didn't know where anything was so the location is perfect. I am waiting for the entrance gate to be fixed but the exit works at least. I have also seen an increase in the properties courtesy officers and police officers on site. I LOVE that! There can never be too many officers on site. I absolutely love the maintenance. They have been extremely quick to get anything done I've needed (all small stuff)and they were friendly. I see a lot of business people AND restaraunt workers so calling it ghetto is just insulting to anyone lives here and is working.... You're not ghetto if you work hard and choose to live somewhere affordable. Living within your means is smart, not ghetto. No need to be rude, just make your point and get on with it. Sorry, but I have two jobs and live here because I can afford it and it allows me to spend the money I'm working hard for. It's not perfect, or glamorous but it's THAT bad. I like that I have the computers to use during business hours and am happy that the gym has FINALLY gotten better. Nothing is broken. My only complaint right now is that I wanted to swim a couple of weekends ago and the pool was closed for two days in a row. In the summer it shouldn't be closed except for chemical treatment and that's it. I was bummed, but that's it so far. The change in staff is going to forever be a revolving door. That's problem of office jobs. My friend is in the business and is ALWAYS hiring new people. It's frustrating and annoying to never work with the same person twice so I just go to the managers. It's been good so far.

To first two people who responded to my comments - first off, I am not with the management and I don't need to prove it to the two of you or anybody else. Secondly, like I said before, I just moved here 7 months ago so obviously I am not aware of any gunshots and cocaine incident you guys are referring to. But crime is all over Houston - but then again, there are police officers in this property so I feel much safer now. Thirdly, I see that things around here are getting even better with the new staff they got. So to Anonymous, you should try to meet the new staff especially when they have an event going on in the community center. Then you'll know what I am talking about. Lastly, to qualmswiththepalms, I am not even going to stoop down your level with your comments and you know what, the Palms is better off with you.
