I have been living at park lakes since august 2005, my lease is up next month and I am moving. The office staff was very nice when trying to get you to move in, but once you are here, they act like you are bothering them when you need something. I had a problem with spiders at one point and it was a huge ordeal to get the pesticide man out to spray. They ended up coming in to my apartment and spraying twice because someone in the office goofed... and my cat was here and out in the open with all this poisonous spray.
Parking is Ok, depending on what part you live in. The office sent out letters saying they were going to start towing ppl in handicapped and striped spots, but i never saw one tow truck and people parked in those spots every night. They office staff seems lazy. They say they are going to change the gate code on one specific day and then it doesn't get changed for 3 days after that, but not that it matters, because the gate is usually broken. For the most part I did feel safe in the apartments though. I never saw or heard anything that would prove me otherwise. It is pretty noisy at night with cars honking and cars with very loud stereos and bass booming your windows.
The maintence was usually pretty timely. When i first moved in 2 drawers were broken and they came the next day to fix. We had 2 outlets not working and when they came to fix it 2 days later the man left a nasty note on the door telling me to lock my cat up next time, but if they dont give me a time they are coming, how am I supposed to lock my cat up' but for the most part the men are nice.
If i stayed after my lease is up they were going to raise my rent $25. Not worth it for 675 sq. feet. I would recommend if you need something close to the med center and close to Fannin Park and Ride. But dont expect fast friendly service from the office staff. It usually seems like you are just wasting their time.
