Great place to start

I moved straight into a studio at this complex 6 months ago after moving from out of state and have never had any major problems living here. The location is fantastic. Every store/restaurant you can imagine is only 1 or 2 miles away (mostly on Westheimer) and Galleria/downtown is very closeby. Management has been extremely attentive and striaght-forward, and problems with my apartment were handled usually within a few days. The complex itself is actually pretty old with rotting wood and some broken sidewalks but inside the apartments themselves are decent. The only issue I have had so far is with roaches and insects. Having no experience living in Texas previously, I was pretty freaked out after seeing the size of some of the roaches that infilitrated my place. Pest control did come out but I still had to keep a can of Raid handy. I would recommend getting an apartment on the second floor if possible because of this issue. Other problems I had were with a dripping bathroom faucet, a tub that would not drain properly and some electrical outlets that quit working but these were handled within a day of putting in the work orders. Parking can also be a headache, especially if you come home very late. Often times I have had to park on the other side of the property, but I didn't mind..first come first served I suppose. Get a reserved parking spot if that's a problem for you. They also have a security guard that patrols at night which is reassuring, considering some of the gates were broken and did not close properly so anyone could walk right in. I never understood why they didn't take care of the broken gates promptly. There are also lot of flood lights when it gets dark and I appreciated that. I've never had any problems with neighbors. Everyone seems pretty friendly and family-oriented. Overall I would highly recommend this place if you are new to town, a young couple or if you are suddenly all on your own. I have decided to move out though because I found a much bigger place closer to work with more amenities but for the same price as I was paying here. If my rent did not jump at the end of my lease, I would most likely have stayed. Good luck!
