I have lived here at Parque del Oro for about nine months now. I'm impressed with how well everything is taken care of. The only time I've had a maintenance issue was with my garbage disposal and someone came over right away to take care of it. If you have a maintenance emergancy after regular office hours, they have people on call to help you out.
The pool and exercise facilities aren't great, but they're good for the price you pay. They are also well maintained. Security is so-so. There are gates to the parking lot, but not a lot to keep people out that are on foot. It's easy to slip through the gates behind other people or you can simply walk through the pool area to get to the apartments. That being said, I don't think that it is much different than any other apartment complex in the medical center in that respect. Oh, and there is a security officer that patrols the area in a truck at night.
That brings me to the office staff. There was a recent change in management. After a rocky transition, I have really been impressed with what they have done around here. They are much more courteous and have made some 'green' decisions for the complex such as providing a recycling bin and fitting all light fixtures with those energy-efficient bulbs.
Just so you know I'm not best friends with the manager, I'm willing to report that my apartment was recently burgled. You might think of this as a bad thing... well, yes, it is. However, there has been a rash of thefts in all of the apartment complexes around the medical center area. It's unavoidable. So, I feel fortunate that my office staff here was very attentive when they found out about it. The head maintenance guy came right over to check on any damage and then fit our window with extra security bolts. I feel like they really care about my safety. There are also plans to offer ADT service as a discounted rate.
Overall, I would say that Parque del Oro apartments are a great value if you're looking for an affordable apartment close to the medical center.

So, the burglar came in through the window? Are you on the first floor?
