GHETTO GHETTO GHETTO - AVOID

Okay let's see...
My roomates car stolen and never recovered. My car broken into three times. Our next-door neighbor's vehicles broken into COUNTLESS times. Once, we heard the thugs outside (our apts. were right next to the parking lot) and my neighbor ran outside shooting at them. Many, MANY other neighbor's cars broken into and stolen. Shortly before we moved out, a nice couple moved in just across from us. They hadn't been there ONE WEEK when their truck was stolen.
We knew all the cops by first name, knew some of their kids' names. Yeah, that's just how much they were there. The fact that a cop substation is practically across the street from this complex is no crime deterrent.
Driving by this dump, I notice they are now putting up a security fence. LIKE IT MATTERS! Most of the crime is committed by the people who actually live there, or the people in the next complex over. One of the times my car was broken into, the casing-thing for my stereo was found in the complex, near the office. Meaning whoever stole it either lived at Peppermill or was visiting someone there.
Most people in this world are good, but those good people aint at Peppermill Place. Big crowds of thugs and cholas partying (and fighting) in the parking lot all night...
I could go on FOREVER about all the crime, but I don't have all day.
Not enough dumpsters. They have three SMALL dumpsters for the whole complex, and trash would end up ALL OVER the parking lot. Disgusting.
The apartments themselves are OOOOOLD! All the appliances and cabinets and stuff are from the 70s. Our dishwasher never worked, the whole time we were there.
When we first moved in there were mice. We had to kill them all ourselves, because the office did nothing. We had to duct-tape around the non-working dishwasher, around the stove, and under the sink. Because under the sink there was just a big disgusting hole in the back of the wall, and that's how they were getting it.
I really can't begin to tell you how much of a dump this place is, or how rude and incompetent the management is.
I'm not going to go into that because all the stuff I'm telling you about the crime is TRUE, and hopefully that alone is enough to deter you! But I assure you that the management is a joke, and the overall condition of these apartments is deplorable.
The worst thing is, they charge so much!!
I am paying the same now, in an almost-new apartment, as I was paying for LESS SPACE, in that OLD-ASS place!

I can honestly say that this resident is not lying. I received many fliers notifying residents of vandalism to cars and hit-n-runs. I too had a hole under my sink but did not experience mice. Instead I had to live with roaches. Management said they would send pest control but I doubt they did because the little critters would pop up every so often. My toilet overflowed onto my carpet four times. One of those times the maintanece man had the nerve to mop up the water with my bath towels hanging over the shower. I also had problems with the hot water in my shower. The water would only stay hot for about 5 minutes and then turn cold. They tried to convince me that it was supposed to do that and also try to make me feel like they understand by saying things like, "Mine did the same thing last night", when they don't even live there. They finally came by to take a look at it when I callled the corporate offices two months later. Corporate agreed to pay for my moving expenses to a different apartment #. Water still turned cold and maintanence painted over roaches. Even if this is your last resort ask mom and dad for your old room back until you save enough money for somewhere else.

The water heaters are super tiny and can only heat water for 5 or 10 minutes! I had called maintenance for that as well, but the apartment isn't equipped with normal size water heaters so we get stuck with that. Honestly, the apartmetn isn't worth the trouble the residents experienced or are experiencing.

Thanks so much for the warnings. I took a tour of the place this weekend and it looked nice and the management was very helpful and friendly. It just shows how important it is to have reviews like this. Otherwise, I might have ended up in this dump.

This is very much true. Within one week of living at this apartment complex, my car was broken into along with 13 other cars on the same night. There may have been gates installed, but that has not deterred the crime. I have had many problems with this apartment complex's management. We went through countless office managers during the time we lived there. Also be aware that all of the air conditioners are at least 20 years old, if not older. The duct work is also very old and sometimes moldy. If you want to pay over $250.00 - $300.00 for you air conditioning a month for a small 2 bedroom then by all means, this is the place for you. The kids in the complex love to play in the parking lot, which means that footballs, soccer balls and many other toys will be slamming into your cars frequently. There is not any respect for anyone else within those gates. As far as trash goes, people will bring their trash to the bins, but it is way too difficult for most people to lift it into the actual receptacle. I would never give the recommendation for people to move into this apartment. If I know anyone that needs an apartment, I advise them to steer clear from this mess. |
