My husband and I moved in over a year and a half ago and were impressed enough to resign our lease. The renovations vastly improved the look of the complex, and seem to have been done with care, as we haven't had any problems with the new flooring, countertops, etc. However, there are some downsides, namely the crime in the area. It's true that there have been many incidents in the parking garage. I think that the complex now employs a secutiry guard at night, although I haven't seen him lately. They have also recently installed cameras at the entrance to the garages, which is at best a mild deterrant, but will hopefully at least help a bit. The whole time we've been here, I've only once heard of an apartment being burglarized, which I think is fairly good odds for this part of town. We also have some trouble getting our packages from the office (sometimes we are not notified - our wedding video was down there for 2 weeks before we got it!) but all in all, our experience here has been a positive one.

the renovations are cheap faucets (which have already rusted), and some faux marble added to kitchen and bathrooms. But same old noisy appliances, cupboards, and old carpets (microwave, dishwasher and fridge are at least 10 year old models and are not energy efficient)...and i've never seen a security guard here since i moved here a year ago...your package was there for two weeks, mine was there for over 5 weeks, it was shipped priority mail out of california on January 5th and they didnt give it to us until late Febraury when we tracked another package and saw it was signed for downstairs and went looking for it in the package room ourselves.
