I'm considering renting here because heard from another prospective renter that this place has a new respectable and friendly management.

One day I drove by and saw the grass was growing all over the property like a jungle, but a couple days later it was cut which made the place 10 times more appealing. Are things getting done around here to make it a nicer place to live' I read a lot of reviews which are overwhelmingly negative, however it seems all issues were due to a severly mismanaged property. The most important thing to me would be a clean apartment free of bugs and carpet stains, with all appliances, fixtures, and plumbing in working order. Also, what's up with the gates, they ALL seem to be wide open all the time' This was the first red flag, but I hope the gate issue is a temporary problem' Even low-cost apartment complexes have functioning access gates so I found this to be quite odd indeed.

I would like to hear from current renters on their past and experiences with regards to their living space and if they've seen any changes from new management. Thanks!

P.S.
This excerpt from an online article should explain why all MBS properties went downhill and why lease agents who allegedly stole money from tenants easily got away with it:

"Smuck's current woes can be traced back to Hurricane Katrina two years ago, which destroyed MBS's headquarters along with company operations in Metairie, La. In the disaster, the company lost all of its property and resident files and then faced an exodus of employees. In the years since, MBS has allowed its portfolio occupancy to fall below market levels and has incurred several large accounts payable to such vendors as utility companies"

I guess that about answers my concerns. Maybe you should consider calling the City of Houston health department regarding the mold, that is a serious health hazzard. I guess I won't be renting at Serrano!

unfortunately long as ----- is the manager the negativity will continue on the property she has a horrible attitude. She is a product of MBS" go figure. Long after MBS were no longer management of this property the issues still remain . I have no hot water, the maint guy came to repair my bath tub in NOVEMBER.. I still have the tile cut out of the wall with no running water in that bathroom..my walls are completely full of mold, ?I can hear water running thru the walls daily as if the pipes have burst. I have been to the dr. several times for upper resptry infctn. The manager and her staff still have horrible attitudes, not to mention the sewer has backed up several times in this building. GROSS. Honestly I think they should have cleaned house completely inside and out and started from scratch by now I'm sure the property would have been a much better place to reside.. YES my lease is up in MAY.. AND i'm gone never to return.

The actual owner of the property is currntly incarcerated in Federal Prison for Tax evasion or non payment of taxes. Thats why the management is doing what ever they want. I used to live there and my best friend was the maintenance man. Management wasnt even collecting rent. He had 4 payroll checks bounce. After my lease expired I lived there for 4 months rent free as well with a whole lot of other tenants. Thank you Serrano. With the money I saved not paying rent and managment not caring about their tenants, I was able to save enough money to put a down payment on a house in Katy.

This is why the property is not doing good? People just living rent free for 4 months, you should be ashamed of even mentioning it. I don't understand what bank would of even consider giving you a loan for a home if you didn't pay rent for 4 months. I on't know this place but, it's obvious that if the place is going downhill is for residents like you that do not pay rent. Think about it residents living rent free HOW ARE THE BILLS GONNA GET PAID?
