Plus' & Minus'

As with all things, you get what you pay for. It seems to me that much like the places I have worked over my career this apartment complex has plus' and minus' with everything from the apartment to the staff. I will cover several in the following so that people will be able to make a good decision for themselves. I have seen the "black mold" that has been talked about in previous posts and have some intermittantly in my apartment. While it is a type of mold and can lead to people getting sick if they are allergic to the specific type of spore, it is not the "black mold" that actually destroys alveoli in the lung but it will cause severe irritation and if someone has already been diagnosed with asthma it can cause attacks. A good way to make sure that there is no mold in your air ducts in Clear Lake is to change out the air filter every 4-6 weeks with a HEPA filter, dust weekly, and then make sure to vacuum with a bagless vacuum that has a HEPA filter as well. I have asthma but I have not had the reaction that has been previously spoken about. As to the parking, it could be better but it is not any different than most apartments that I have been at. About the staff, of the 4 - 5 maintenance staff only two are worth much and they are the hispanic woman that does most of the cleanups after people leave and the assistant maintenace supervisor, as to the front office staff, the is one hispanic woman is currently working there that is great to work with and then a girl that just left at the end of last year to have a baby who was probably the best person that has ever been in the office. Also, since they went to the "corporate billing system" for their contracts we have had several problems with everything upto and including the renewal being off by six months. I also agree with the fact that most of the tenets that are around us fail to have common respect as to how loud they play their music and at what time they do so, a good example of this is that our neighbor next door must always have their music up to where I can actually feel the base when I am in my bathroom and their stereo is about 30 feet from our bathroom. As to safety, I feel as safe as you can living so close to the fourth largest city in the US. As to the complaints that I have heard from people on here about illegals living here, I do think that is true. I also believe that the management could enforce better their policies of making sure that the people that use the facilities here (weight room, pool, playground) should only be for the residents and their guests. As an aside, the policy of collecting a fee for what was originally just for the trash service and now is trash, water, sewage, and gas (I am not sure why gas is collected for because even the heaters for the water in the apartment are electric), while it is irritating, it is a common practice in apartments to help to recoup alot of their loss. Lastly, and probably the most irritating to me is that the some of the residents here just set their trash next to the dumpters, I understand setting things like radios, tvs, or furniture is so that someone else can use it, but the people here are lazy and just set the trash bags next to the dumpters because someone else will take care of it for them. I even saw one middle aged woman through a trashbag onto a dumpter that was overflowing and it fell out and then she looked around and then ran off. Again, I will say that there are plus' and minus' to being in an apartment whis is not an overlly bad place. While I would probably not rent here again, I would saw that it is because we want our next place to be a house not because the apartment is bad.

This place is very safe and very well maintained. I have never had any problems here and the police cars that are here is because they live here not because there are safety problems. LOOK AT Houston Police Department website. They post crime stats for neighbor hood and you can see that there is very very very little crime for skylar pointe. I have never had any problems and I am a single mom of twins and I feel very very safe here. It is the Best!!!!

Wrong!!!!! One cop lives here and he puts up with a lot of calls especially night parties with a bunch of drunks and noise. We've had our truck broken into 3 times, CD player stolen all three times. Didn't replace it last time. Had a wrecker come get in last time, it was so damaged. Kids egg your windows, cuss like sailors and none are older than 10. No english spoken here anymore and it has become the United Nations. We hate this place. Leaving this year and moving home. This place sucks. And the exterimators do not come in once a week. If you tell them you don't want them spraying around your apt. they won't. They don't insist, it's easy not to work for your money, isn't it. Crappy place to live. Ghetto if you ask me. Oh, and your mail is stolen if you use the letter box to mail your bills. I'd suggest you go to the post office. The gate is always broken, people use the exit gates to get in and then damage the gates because they are coming in the wrong way. Drunks and mad people hit the entrance gate when they can't get in and break it. It's broken at least twice a week. Now that's safety isn't it????????
