The management couldn't be worse. They seem to view themselves as slumlords, and answer complaints by reminding you it's your own fault for choosing to live there. Amazing.

Please do not slander me as a slumlord. I was only going by budgeted guidelines set forth by the owner. Any complaints on site where handled fairly and quickly by the staff. I never said or reminded anyone that it was their fault that they chose to live there and in my twenty years in this industry I would never say that to a resident. I took the property over in 1999 and provided a good product and provided good customer service equal to the rents that were charged. Whatever the case was before I got there is not my fault. Yes it is a 30 year old property with on going maintenance issues and it is in the high crime Gulfton area. So be careful as to whom you slander. I am not the owner of South Oaks Apts. I was just an employee doing what was instructed to me by the owner. Acting Manager from 1999-2005.
