I have been living at southpoint for 1 year now. I feel safe in my apartment and even when i go running everymorning around the block. The staff is very nice and are always will to help me. My first experience wasn't great, they were supposed to be there when i came for a tour and were both gone to lunch and didn't return for about 1.5 hours. That is the only bad experience I have had in my year. As far as no being able to get cable modem, who cares. The do offer SBC/Yahoo High Speed DSL. I can honestly tell you that i was very skeptical at first i have had cable modem for 5 years at this point. But my DSL is MUCH FASTER than any cable i have ever had. 6000KB/s D/L speed and 768KB/s U/L speed. I challenge you to find this type of bandwidth with any cable provider and this speed is constant unlike cable which lags during times of high traffic. My service request are responded to quickly and accurately. Start up cost on DSL is more expensive after rebates it was only about 50 but its like 150 upfront. And i still pay about the same cost for the DSL elite service with a basic phoneline as i did for cable modem alone everywhere else. 50$/month after tax. This includes the 7$ a month limited phone line and DSL. My apartment has plenty of room for myself and even a fireplace as all the first floor apartments do. The surrounding area may not be the best of places to live, but the only vandalism i have seen around the complex were two cars that had there windows smashed and i assume something stolen. However, i feel that these incidents were as much the fault of the driver as anyone, they were parked on the road, allowing for quick access instead of parking inside the complex's gates where you have to have a code to drive into. The only noise i hear is my neighbors music on the weekend but that is all. And even then it is not to loud. Nothing you wouldn't experience with any other apartment. you can walk to the Park and Ride to get to downtown if you need to. About 1/4 mile. You can walk to Chilis, TGI Fridays, Olive Garden, Fudruckers, and Scholtzkis, all about 1/3 mile. If you drive over the I45 there are plenty of other eaterys, Sonic, TacoBell, Taco Cabana, Joe's, Gringos, Casa Ole, Subway, Wingstop, Golden China Buffet, Philly Cheesteak Connection, Dominos, plus others. Among those restaurants you can also find a blockbuster, Blockbuster online is and amazing and cheap form of entertainment. 20 bucs a month and you can watch all the movies and TV series you could want and it comes with a free game rental a month. Also there is a kroger for groceries. Anyway OVERALL great exerience, convenient location, fair price, Pet fee kind of expesive and non-refundable 300$, friendly staff. Trash service runs every Mon. Wed. Fri. so i dont know what the other review was taling about as far as trash filling up. Wahsher dryer hookups and there are a couple of washaterias
