Continuous Decline in Service/Safety
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 12/27/2004
Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
After reviewing July's obviously fake reviews raving about the Steeples, I had to put my two cents in to counter the deception. My wife and I moved to the Steeples in November of 2001. It was a great place, friendly management and tenants. But after new management took over two years ago, there has been a decline in both service and safety.
As far as safety is concerned, here are a list of concerns that every prospective tenant should know. The entry gates are always broken. Everyone from the pizza man to your everyday hoodlum knows the passcode to get inside. Parking lot lights are normally out; and it takes a week or so before the bulb is ever replaced. The same goes for lighting on the apartment grounds...always out.
We have a very high turnover rate of tenants. We receive unsavory type tenants that indulge in the free-rent offer, stay for 30 days, maybe 60...then they're gone overnight because they can't pay the rent.
But the turnover rate is more than just tenants unable to pay the rent; office management is terrible. They take it upon themselve to orange sticker people's windshields without warning those who don't have updated tags or inspections on their cars; yet at the same time, they don't ticket or tow those who are parked illegaly or driving recklessly through the parking lot.
Other examples of bad Office service is Management is indifferent toward complaints from their tenants. They don't do background checks on prospective tenants. They are disorganized. Their local accounting personnel is incompetent; she/they charge people for things that the accounting team can not track or verify why they are doing the charging, but threaten to lock out a tenant if payment isn't made regardless. They never inform tenants that courier packages from UPS, US mail, or FedEx is in the office, and often lose them among the pile of unclaimed packages. They don't keep accurate records of their tenants.
whatever you do, don't live here. My wife and I will be leaving very soon. Moreover, don't believe the positive raves about this place. It's obvious that office management has gotten their crew to write up good reviews on their own behalf. If this was such a good place, why don't their own people live here'
