Stonewood Apartments

Nice Place From: netlady Date posted: 10/10/2004 Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004   I've lived here about six months and really like it. The negative posts seem petty to me (and no I'm not the manager). Anytime I've requested maintenance, it was taken care of promptly and professionally and Iıve found the office staff courteous and polite. I live in the smallest unit and I have plenty of room and storage. If you get home late, you will have to walk a distance to your apartment, but every place I have ever lived was like that. At the moment there is a bad neighborhood across the bridge, but there is also new construction going up in that area and I believe it will shove those slums out of site like they did in the old Heights neighborhoods. Even in the Heights area they have crime, itıs just a fact of life, thatıs what insurance is for. I have a police scanner programmed for this area and I listen to it all the time and believe me, this is a cake walk compared to some places. You can't get away from crime regardless of where you live, especially in Houston. The link below will take you to Houston Police Dept. crime stats for this area and youıll see these apartments have had very few occurrences. http://www.ci.houston.tx.us/department/police/cs3b2 my apt is on the north side (opposite the train), Iım not bothered with train noise. But if you rent an apartment facing a train yard, then "train noise" shouldnıt surprise you, thatıs why you pay less rent in those apartments. Once or twice Iıve heard a neighborıs conversation through the wall, but itıs not really a problem. I guess Iım lucky to have quiet neighbors. The only complaint I have is the gravel yards next door gets sand on vehicles and it makes it impossible to keep your car clean. Iım within 5 minutes of grocery stores, blockbuster video, fast food places, drug stores, gas stations, I-10 and I can get downtown in 8 min (Iıve done it). There is a nice bike/walking route a block away and I take advantage of it. Overall for the price I think this is a nice place. I plan to live here until I buy my house in a year or so.
