So you think that you are getting a good deal for the area when you are moving in. While the apartments are not horrible to live in (some questionable architecture with living space arrangements put aside), the whole atmosphere is awful.
The first is the parking. There is no designated guest parking area. The only place that guests can park is the first floor of the parking garage (the upper levels are only accessible if you have a garage opener to get in and only the residents do). The idea is good. The guest should be able to park on the first level of the garage. Well the problem is that all of the parking spaces in the complex are available to "rent" for an additional fee on top of your monthly rent. All the remaining spaces must be fought over by current residents and their guests. The complex needs to put an entrance keypad for the upper levels so everyone can park in the garage.
Second is the safety in the complex. When you park in the garage, you must descend into a stairwell that does not have mirrors warning you what is around the corner. As a young woman, this intimidates me because it would be so easy to be attacked in the stairwell. From the stairwell, it isn't that lengthy of a walk to my apartment, but the pathway to my apartment is not lit properly. There is a light on the side of a building that has been out since I basically moved in. When I come home late in the evening, I have my boyfriend meet me at the garage to walk me back to my apartment.
What has led me to be paranoid in my apartment complex is the fact that since I have been living there, a car is broken into and/or stolen frequently. The complex did hire a security company to patrol the garage, but I haven't seen any change in the criminal activity. Not very long after I moved into my apartment, over 15 cars were broken into in one night. I went into the parking garage the next morning to see numerous people taking photos of their cars. It was shortly after this incident they hired the security company. Since the hiring of the security company, my boyfriend's truck has been broken into (October) and STOLEN (December). Now I realize trucks are easier to break into and steal, but something needs to be done. Obviously the security company is not working. I went into the leasing office and told them that my boyfriend's truck had been stolen, and I basically got a wave of the hand and a "it is happening to all the other complexes in the area." I need something more than a wave of the hand and a poor excuse. I need action to be taken. That is not happening and I am very glad to be moving out of my apartment at the end of the month.
Please listen to me and don't move into this complex. You are better off living in a rented home or another part of town.

I did and when I went to the office to try and talk to someone about my deposit, which in my case I rightfully desereve, was the manager telling me that she had already spoken to me about it which was a BOLD FACED LIE, b/c for a month straight I called every Tuesday and left a message for her to call me back b/c she was supposed to call me back the same day that I talked to her, anyways she told me in these exact words, "Have a nice day and get out." I tried to call someone to speak about the situation, but I could never get a number to anyone higher up than the manager in the office. I still and mad about it and will still try to let someone know what an inconsiderate, uncaring woman they have running the front office. The place went downhill after Candace left.

Completely agree...Candance was a great manager. She and Justin(I believe his name was) did a great job running the property and other than the few property issues(Parking, no keypad for guests) it was a great place to live. I have now moved out...and went to a newer property and paid a bit more rent but the electric bills are much less than at the Grove and the cable company is much better. All things to consider before making a choice to live in an older community.
Props to the new manager for at least opening the office occasionally! However, I am still waiting on my deposit to be returned. (Now at a month) Luckily I work in the business and I know all my rights and all the right contacts! I will get what I deserve or else they will be having a law suit to deal with...
