there are better places to live and better values

I initially really liked my apartment, even though they management had chosen to leave the old carpet and shampoo rather than replace (I did not get to see the apt until after signing a lease - my mistake). Then the lack of space and poorly organized/ designed floor plan begin to hit me - lots of wasted space. The lack of electrical outlets was also a problem, and became a major one the evening my main fuse blew out because I ran the TV, lamp, and iron in the living room (no other lights on at the time), leaving me without electricity in more than half the apartment for the evening through the next early afternoon.
Parking was a huge issue. I was told there were no reserved spaces available when I moved in, but would be placed on the waiting list. Every time I checked I was told I was at the top of the so-called list. Every new tenant who moved in was able to get a space, but I was still on the waiting list. When a falling bullet fell through my windshield, shattering it, I was told I was still on the waiting list, and that I needed to get my eyesore of a car with a broken windshield out of their parking lot.
Mail was initially a problem, as the boxes were old and difficult to operate, but the Post Office finally made management buy new boxes (thank you Post office).
I do agree that the best thing was the neighbors, however, some were cliqueish, and the noise was a problem at times (if you choose to live there, don't choose an apt by the pools!). Also, be aware that if your apt is located on the west side buildings of either section (i.e. your bedroom windows face west), you will never be able to get the temperature in your apt below 85-89 degrees in the summer time (we kept our a/c at 60-65 which was no help). Management tinted the windows to shut up complainers, but it didn't help much.
