Yo!

Be careful...

I moved here after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The lady who helped me move in said that she would take care of things for me, including verifying with my employer about my job. She did not do any of that, and I had to beg and cry to get into the apartment the day before my new job started in Houston. They finally relented, and I obtained a letter verifying my employment, which my boss faxed to them. The staff here could not find the letter, and I spent most of my orientation at my new job trying to figure out whether I was being kicked out of my new place at the end of the day.

There was a hole in the bathtub that they half-filled, and during my stay, my air conditioner partially flooded my apartment multiple times, the refrigerator leaked every couple of weeks creating a huge puddle in the kitchen, and the air conditioning units outside my bedroom window made horrible noises that woke me up in the middle of the night (and I'm not a light sleeper). The one guy who was really nice to me was the guy who came by to turn up the temp on my water heater so I wouldn't have lukewarm baths. I very much appreciated him.

Also, while I lived here, three guys tried to carjack a lady who happened to be a rookie police officer. She was trying to go to work in the morning. She ended up shooting and killing one, one had to be lifeflighted, and the third was arrested. These were local Houston guys that attacked her. There are gang symbols on the dumpster fences, and my upstairs neighbor is constantly blasting his music. I've had to call the courtesy office numerous times. Once they had a fight so bad upstairs that I thought the ceiling would cave in. There was yelling and cursing and tumbling on the floor. It was terrifying. They are still blasting their music daily. One thing about it is that the staff does promptly contact the security officer who does get them to be quiet.

The management has changed quite a few times since I've been here. It's weird. And they recently changed their name to The Promanade. They bought the apartment complex across the street, and now it's even bigger. Makes me wonder about how staff will be then. I have a feeling they will be so big that they won't know any of their customers.

Interestingly when it came time to renew my lease, they wanted me to move into another apartment on grounds so that they could remodel the one I'm in. They did offer to pay for the move.

Other than that, the floor plan is wonderful and BIG! I love my huge walk-in closet and the large bathroom with the garden tub. The staff is great about taking packages, and the grounds are pretty nice, too! Plus, there is a wonderful CARES team that left treats on my door and came by to visit me when I first moved in. They often do fun little things on grounds for residents, too.

I hope this gives you some idea of how things are here.
