I ve read with interest many of the reviews listed here regarding this apartment complex. My wife and I have been residents here for over 2 years now and we have seen both positive and negative changes to the complex during this time. A definite positive change is the apartment manager. We tried unsuccessfully many times to address issues with the former manager and never in my life have I ever met a more non people oriented individual. She just didn t care about the residents. I understand she was finally let go or fired and it was none too soon. The current manager may not be able to address all concerns as fast as we would all like but we feel she truly cares about the residents and puts a lot of effort into addressing problems as they arise. She has taken care of issues we have addressed with her in a very timely manner.
The changeover of support staff seems to be a definite plus as well. We rarely wait more than a couple of minutes for a staff member to assist us and they are always friendly, courteous and more than willing to assist. A big change from the previous staff members that were here.
Our calls to maintenance have always been resolved in a timely manner as well. The grounds are always being tended to, generally look good and rarely does one see any trash lying around the grounds.
Although sometimes crowded, there seems to be ample parking for all residents and guests.
For those who complain about crime in the complex, i.e., cars and apartments being broken into, ABC13 news and the Houston police department have broadcast information that criminals are going from apartment complex to apartment complex in the NW Houston area breaking into cars and apartments so its not just here at The Trails @ Rockcreek apartments. It s a problem at all apartment complexes. A nighttime security individual onsite would be a definite plus, (but then our rent would probably go up to pay for it).
Most residents here at Rockcreek Apartments are honest hard working people and management is very good at weeding out the undesirables.
For my wife and me, this complex has two major shortcomings and they are as follows:
1) Regarding the swimming pools, the lazy river pool behind the leasing office building is the obvious showpiece for visitors so this pool seems to get more attention then the pools at phase two where we live. Still, within 24 hours or so after maintenance, the pools always seem to get very cloudy and murky and stay that way until the next cleaning, (usually a week). Not very inviting to swim in to say the least. The pools in phase two seem to have worse problems in the fact that the close proximity to the pool of the volleyball court, tennis court, the lack of bathrooms and shower(s) lends itself daily to people going directly from these play area s into the pools and the hot tub without showering or changing clothes. Also the lack of bathrooms anywhere nearby lends itself to people relieving themselves in these pools. (We all know this happens) and my wife and I have seen this happen). Swimming pools should be sparkling clear, these pools are not and as such, we go elsewhere to swim even though we are paying for it in our rent.
2) Regarding the valet garbage service . Michaelson Realty who also manages several apartment complexes in other southern states is under the misguided perception that Rockcreek Apartments needs this garbage service. We lived here over a year before they installed this service and in all that time we have never witnessed resident s garbage anywhere but in the dumpsters where it belongs. Michaelson Realty has problems with their residents leaving trash all over in other complexes in other states (as told to me by a Michaelson Rep) and they think it s a problem at Rockcreek as well when it isn t. The real problem comes at lease renewal time as we have been told we are going to be charged a $25.00 mandatory per month fee for this service. Outrageous to say the least. Not needed but forced on you if you move in here. Like the idea of any number of people going through your trash for ID s, SS numbers, account numbers, etc., or do you prefer putting your trash in the dumpsters yourself where its less likely to be searched'
All in all, The Trails @ Rockcreek Apartments is rather pricey for what is offered to residents but after living in many other apartment complexes we would recommend read the lease very carefully before committing to it, talk to other residents, explore and compare to other apartment communities in the area and then move in and enjoy one of the better apartment communities in the area.
