I lived here for a year and I felt unsafe and stressed all the time. It didn't seem so ghetto when I first moved here, but after a few months I was ready to go. The noise was horrible and I could feel the wind on my neck while sitting three feet away from the window in the wintertime. My electricity bill wasn't too high because I kept it at 78 in the summer and 70 in the winter, which isn't comfortable for about 90% of people. I was constantly worried that my new car would get broken into. I was also worried I was going to see roaches. I didn't, but I knew of others who had some problems. Everyone says there are a lot of students here, but all I ever saw were people from the 'hood. I always made an effort to get home before dark. After one year, I was always in a bad mood--it is always difficult when you don't feel at home in the place that's supposed to be your home. Anyway, I have moved on to a much nicer place that's more accessible even during Reliant traffic. Some Houston Texans even live there. It is about $80 more per month for an apartment with similar square footage, but I have assigned covered parking and nine foot ceilings. Best of all, I don't see people with crappy cars looking like they are below the poverty level. Holly hall has about the most inexpensive rent in the medical center, and that is probably why the appliances are old and the outside is not as pretty. Go elsewhere and you will pay more, but you will have peace of mind, which is required for me to do well in school.
