Fire Alarm Issue

I've been here since December, and at least twice a month there's a day where we have problems with the fire alarm. This isn't something you can cover your ears and block out. They have alarms in every room, each one puts out this obscenely loud high-pitched noise. It usually lasts for about 15-30 minutes. Then, there'll be another day soon after where it goes off all day because they're "fixing" the issue or "testing" the system.

The office likes to pretend all the incidents are due to some meddling kids or pranksters, but I don't buy it. I'm sure that might have been the case a couple of times, but I just went down to the office and they couldn't figure out how to shut the system off, and the security guard explicitly stated it was a malfunction, not a prank. I spoke with a lady who moved in last August and told me it had been going on since SHE had moved in as well. Obviously there's a serious issue with the fire alarm, one that they can't seem to be honest about or resolve since it's been going on for almost a year.

I want someone from the Ventana at Midtown to address these issues in a letter to the residents or even in a response to this post. This is absolutely unheard of. Especially for a place where the minimum rent is just over $1K. I was going to renew my lease but now it looks like I'm not. The fire alarm issues are inexcusable.

The fire alarms are being addressed. Unfortunatley, there are several different factors to consider when the fire alarm panel is set off.

Since we've been hearing the same canned response "The fire alarms are being addressed." over and over again month after month, how can you seriously expect us to believe you? If they're being addressed, why isn't there any communication with the residents as to what the problem is? Why do you keep pretending it's just this random thing with kids and that every apartment complex has this sort of problem? I've live in several apartment complexes over the years and NOT ONE has ever had an issue like this with the fire alarm, and I've never seen a place so obviously try to pass the buck onto someone else. Pathetic.

As of November 2007, this issue has still not been resolved.
