Just a thought, but perhaps you could have/should have asked for a different apartment location if you did not want to overlook a parking lot? It's probably safe to say they had another of your floorplan available elsewhere in the apartment community, and you wouldn't have been so annoyed by the hotrodding?
Also -- do the math...900 sq. ft. divided into $1040/month comes out to a little over $1 per square foot. That is perfectly reasonable for that area...call around and I'm sure you'll find the same situation at other communities.

the 1040 a month was a "special" price (employment discount) so it was more like 1200 a month for a very unremarkable and small apartment in a not so impressive part of town. and yes we accepted the horrible view. little did we anticipate the 5am deliveries behind the (former)K-Mart or the incredible amount of idiots doing burnouts in the parking lot all night long. to be honest we just decided to wait our contract out and hit the ground running rather than go the route of moving all our stuff and paying a ridiculous transfer fee. the managment was in a state of constant turnover so you really never knew what to expect or who you'd be dealing with.

oh and tina...thanks for a thoughtful reply rather than incoherent ramblings involving the growth of testicles:)

Perhaps you should get your ears checked Tina cause you live in lala-land. Woodway Friday & Saturday nites have motorcycles racing up & down the streets all nite long! And when the dancers get home from their profession at 3 in the a.m. they don't think twice about having their own little party in the parking lot -- perhaps you're one of them? Looking forward to the ambulances racing little Woodway now that the old folks home has opened across the street, too!

Woodway loud? Maybe for a little while during the evening rush hour while people cut the corner between Westheimer and Fondren, but otherwise it's quite peaceful and tree-lined, especially for being in a major city. Westheimer isn't even that noisy except for the occasional siren, which you have to expect and accept living in a big city. Surely you checked out the location a bit before deciding on whether or not to move in, no? And the whole K-mart parking lot drag-racing thing was way overblown on all sides. The kids were out there once or twice a month for maybe 5 minutes at a time goofing around and then they'd split before getting caught. Perhaps the big city isn't the place for you to live if you get bothered and upset so easily over trivial things like random background noise. Houston has loads of suburbs if you prefer that sort of thing.
