Just an FYI: I lived in that apartment complex five years ago, and cars were getting broken into all the time back then as well. I was there for six months and we had it happen 1/2 dozen times. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to get away from that type of crime in an apartment complex unless you have armed guards walking around - and I'm not sure we'd really want that!

This resident is now armed. I took captaincanteloupe's advice (without knowing it!) and took a CHL class. If anyone tries to break into my unit or accost me in the parking lot, he should be aware the real security may be coming from residents with a concealed Heckler & Kochs. In addition, potential thieves might want to look up Texas Penal Code ยง9.42 (DEADLY FORCE TO PROTECT PROPERTY).
