I am a brand new resident to this property. After scouring the West and Southwest portions of the city (dozens of site visits and property tours) over the past few weeks - I decided to make Village on Memorial my new home.
I considered numerous factors before reaching my final decision - location, noise, security, age of the property, groundskeeping, outward appearance, amenities, apartment features and professionalism of the office staff.
This property was the only one that met or exceeded my expectations in every category.
The surrounding area is upscale with numerous options for dining and shopping close by. There is an HFD Fire station just a couple of blocks down Memorial. The property has an access gate that leads directly to Harris County Hershey Park (a gorgeous venue for hiking and biking).
The hardwood floors along with unique and innovative apartment features immediately elevated this location to the top of my list.
This property is definitely upscale and expensive. However, I would rather pay for the peace of mind knowing that the community does not allow "just anybody" to be a resdident - you have to pass their thorough screening standards.
The only other concern that I had (which probably isn't one that affects most people) is the close proximity to the Katy Freeway. I intentionally toured the property on a late afternoon during rush hour - so I could assess the noise level from traffic on I-10 and found it to be minimal. I've toured many other properties that had significantly more noise. Once inside an apartment, you can't even hear passing cars in the parking lot.
The office staff has been friendly, competent and professional in all of my dealings with them.
If you can afford it - these are the nicest apartments I've seen anywhere in Houston.

The noise that comes from I-10 (Katy fwy) is not so much from traffic but from unending construction that goes 24x7. More importantly since I moved in 3 months ago there is church construction going on right across the street, really noisy and it goes on 7 days a week from early in the morning untill 6-7 pm. I only feel pity for the reviewer who thinks that Hershey Park is "a gorgeous venue for hiking a biking". This is basically a narrow green zone around huge sewage canals called "bayous" here in Houston. You should see all the garbage floating in the brown muddy water and all around, or better yet smell the air - then you would understand what I am talking about. But then again, for Houston even that is considered great. Hardwood floors? Really poor worksmanship. I'd rather have carpet there than this ugliness. But the worst is their practically complete lack of response to maintenance problems. Professional staff? You must be kidding me. Anyway, looks like this review was written by somebody working for this property anyway.
