I recently ran into this experience. I work the hours the leasing office is open. I went to drop my rent in the night drop box and there was a sign that said NO CHECKS. Since I could not turn the rent in at the box and could not hand over the rent in person, I was not able to pay my rent on time. I eventually had to miss some work to turn it in in-person and got stuck with a $50 late fee. The New management denied that there was a sign there and refused to discuss it. When I came back later that day to photograph the sign, the sign was gone. This all took place between the first and the 3rd of the month. Every place I have ever stayed the rent was to be turned in anytime between the 1st and the 5th. If you are not paid on the first of the month, (I am paid on the 2nd or 3rd sometimes, I work for a small business) prepare to get screwed.
Management also threatened to lock my roommate and I out because we were 2 dollars short on our rent/ water bill. We were unaware of what our water bill because we never received it. We still have not received that water bill.
The also disallowed my roommate and I to get a Satellite dish for satellite TV. They said they do not allow them to be mounted to the building. That would be fine if my next-door neighbor did not have one up that the leasing office is aware of and allows.
My truck has been broken into and my prescription sunglass and CDs were stolen.
The Apartment itself is fine. We have a dishwasher, one that is going on 20 years old but it still is working ok. There is no oven timer on the oven.
There are a few other little oddieties that really do not bother me, it is the over zealous management that really makes the complex unbearable.
Id lists my e-mail address if I did not still have six months left on my lease. Damn that roommate who talked me into signing an 18-month lease (lol). As soon as my lease is up I am out of here and I am not looking back.
Save yourself a headache and stay away from here. The previous management was a joy to work with. Kelli Cool I miss you. The new management makes living here a pain.

After reading your review I would have to say that the management has done nothing wrong. It seems as though because you were charged a late fee (rightfully so according to your lease contract) you are a disgruntled resident. The fact that you forgot to pay your rent on time is not the managements fault. If residents would read there lease contract they would realize the management is not the "bad guy" they have a job to do just like you and me and are only doing it. My advise would be to read a contract before you sign it that way future problems such as this one can be avoided.

You should have used the word "their" instead of "there" and "advice" instead of "advise". You must be in the apartment management due to your stupidity !

The rent is late after the 3rd of the month. I have family who lived there and that is why I know when the rent is due. You need to read your lease.

It is sad that when someone cannot abide by a contract they feel they need to blame management. I think that most convenience stores are open late and many sell money orders. Or step in to this century and pay your bills on line. That way your rent will be on time and you won't have to deal with the "stupid" people in the office. Or maybe you weren't smart enough to think of that.
