I can say that the staff and the maintanence crew all have responded very quickly and honestly to each of our requests. As handicapped individuals both my husband and myself have had special needs that had to be met. This was done, extremely quickly and with a smiling attitude. Even when special problems have cropped up (such as baby birds in our dryer vent,) one phone call to the "Welcome Center" and a few minutes later someone was at our door to help. This is the only place I have ever lived or heard of actually where after a work order has been carried out you then get a call by a staff member to verify your satisfaction of the work! Not all things of course can be handled immediately. Just like any other complex, things must be done in order of priority. But they do get done.

There is a sense of home as soon as you enter through the gates...You can see by the smiles of the residents throughout the complex that my husband and I are not the only one with this opinion. The office is called the "Welcome Center" and it certainly lives up to it's name. At 7 O'Clock in the morning "coffee is on with cookies for those who want to stop in and grab a cup....and conversation if you have the time! There are books and videos to borrow and people who welcome you with smiles...how can you not feel welcomed'

Once again, our "friendly staff" at Wilshire have made an attempt to boost their poor rating by providing a false representation of the complex, or by begging the ONE tenant who feels that the staff has done a good job. The truth lies in the other multiple statements provided in this ever-so-helpful site that allows the residents to vent. If you truly are a handicapped resident, I have to say that I am glad you received this service, and I am sorry to hear of your disability. But is it fair that everyone else receives less because we are not? Point made.

Dear "Anonymous", I can assure you that indeed all that I stated in my unsolicited review was true...and that I am sorry you seem to have some grievence going with the management. My understanding is that the present manager Adriana has just taken over the complex in the last four months and has made many changes. I truly believe if you give the new management a chance they will do all they can to help resolve your problems. I don't know of a single dwelling in Houston where you don't have some kind of maintainance problems,(and that includes owning your own home.) I still have to turn in to the office my list of the minor problems I found when we moved in...and when I do, I'm sure that they will be addressed in a "priority basis" after all we are not the only tenants in the complex. As for the other reviews on this site...they all seem to be dated prior to the new management. I did notice one reviewer changed their review to a more positve one with the new management. Please don't continue to allow your grudge against others to keep someone from finding a truly lovely place to live. I love waking up to the sound of the birds chirping instead of the sound of cars radio's "booming". I can tell you stories about a truly "hellish" apartment complex where drugs are sold and smoked out in the open; gates are always broken; muggings in the parking lot in the daytime, cars stolen, and apartments broken into day and night. No security to speak of (they run and hide out till they are off duty, and tenants have no access to them, in fact it's a $65 charge if you call after 6 PM.) So you see there are some lousy places that one can choose to live but in my opinion Wilshire Place is not one of them! So I again say please, let others have a chance to form their own opinion about Wilshire Place without you knocking them out of the water!
