Yo!

Bumbling Office Staff. Indifferent Out Of State Ownership.

This is a 500 unit complex managed by ------ dolls whose last job was the cosmetics counter at a department store. With so many units to be responsible for, they don't have any computers in the office to track maintence requests or rent payments. I constantly have to resubmit written maintenance requests, follow them up with 6 or 7 phone calls and finally scream at them to get anything done. I'm frequently notified that I owe late fees after I've submitted my rent on time, and a simple phone call does not resolve the matter. I receive a call from one member of the office staff and I have to return this phone call during business hours - coincidentally, I happen to be at work during business hours. I explain that they have received and even deposited my rent, she says she'll research it and call me back (she never does). A few days later, I receive the same message from someone ELSE in the office, and I have to handle it all over again. I am spending more time at work handling this nonsense over and over than I am working! (Ok, that is an exaggeration, but not by much). Apparently, they have no way of communicating with each other either. I have never seen such incompetent management anywhere I've ever lived. I like the area, but am wishing I'd just spent the additional $200 a month to avoid the weekly hassles.

They also sprung a nasty surprise on me AFTER I'd signed the lease and moved in. I was required to have renter's insurance.

Termites or wood rot has damaged the doors to my apartment so bad that the front door is literally falling apart. The door is squishy and losing chunks every time it is opened and closed. I have had to tape it together to keep it from dragging the floor. It could be kicked in with minimal effort. Yet they won't replace it until they get a set number of doors in the entire complex that need to be replaced. My safety simply isn't cost efficient.

The apartment was infested with fleas and I could not get them to treat it. I called repeatedly, left multiple messages, dropped off written requests and reminders and nothing happened for weeks. I do not own an animal. The fleas were there before I was. I finally gave up and called an exterminator. I should not have had to pay to have the apartment treated, but I got tired of reminding, pleading and arguing with the staff while my ankles were being devoured.

The long "walk-in" closets will not actually hold clothes. The rods bent with only 15 articles on clothing hung and the bracket that supports the rod was simply nailed into the sheetrock - not even into a stud. It promptly fell out, of course. I can see that this happened frequently because of all sloppy patchwork done before I got here. This is a problem because storage in these units is scarce to begin with.

The laundry rooms are filthy and only one or two machines actually work. While it costs only 75 cents to run the machine, you'll have to do it 4 or 5 times in order for your clothes to dry.

All in all, this place is a dive and going downhill fast. They have so little interest in maintence, safety and appearance of the property that I'd suspect they are trying to get rid of all their residents so they could raze the building and put the land to better use -- except they keep accepting new tenants. Simply stupifying.

Spend an additional $200-$400 a month and save yourself the headaches.
