Paper Moon apts. has a deposit scheme hidden in the fine print of their leases. You pay a minimal deposit to move in. But unless you sent them written notification before May 5 that you plan to move out (the leases end in May anyway but you still have to notify them in advance) then they slap you with a $400 "fee." They send you "reminders," usually buried on the back sheet beneath tons of advertisements and apartment newsletters. They also place the deadline during finals week, the busiest week of the year for students, when you are to busy to be scouring your lease or your mail for such loopholes. Its a scam, don't get caught!

Actually, it is common practice for tenants to provide written notification of intent to vacate at least 30 days in advance. Doesn't sound like they were trying to screw you to me.

Wow. You actually signed a Lease without reading it. That's kind of funny. Most leases require 30-days notice. Seems like you're just pissed because you messed up.

Isn't it amazing how for every negative review of this apartment, within a few days there is at least one or two comments that defend Paper Moon, all of which sound very similar? Certainly the staff at Paper Moon wouldn't be wasting time posting bogus responses and reviews to prop up their ratings rather than actually fix some of the problems at their apt. I imagine most of us have experience living in a number of apts. Honestly, how many have $400 check out fees hidden in the fine print. Also, the sheer number of negative posts here show how sleezy and profit oriented Paper Moon is. I hope they loose their shirts in the recession!
