There are only a few basic things that should be expected when renting an apartment. Working locks, working appliances, and attentive management/maintenance. The last is especially important in a complex as dated and old as Benchmark. Unfortunately, this is not the case here. I have lived here for 9 months, and there are items that I had on the move in checklist that have yet to be repaired. I will not be renewing a second time.

Management is completely unresponsive to issues. As part of my lease renewal (6 mo.) I was supposed to be able to get my carpet cleaned. After waiting a month, it never happened. Stopped by to find out why, and was informed that I had to schedule it. Scheduled it. Cleaners didn't show up. Carpets still haven't been cleaned after 4 months. As with other maintenance issues, after requesting something the third time, I give up.

They do not have enough maintenance personnel to truly handle all the issues this complex has. Even worse, when a maintenance issue is finally addressed, they use absolutely the cheapest, least effective means of rigging it. Not fixing it. There has been a leak in my bathroom from the unit above since I moved in. Each time, they caulked the area where the leak was coming from. They have yet to actually stop the leak. Guess What' Water will simply find a new place to escape. It's now molding the drywall above the bathroom.

Someone else complained of the air filter. After requesting this three times, I also had to change it myself, at my expense. The one they used was available at Home Depot. For 59 cents. I could see through it. What could it possibly be filtering'

Obviously, nothing is ever perfect no matter where you go, but I have lived other places where problems are handled promptly and effectively. I could go on and on about the problems just within my unit, not to mention the property as a whole. But hopefully you get the idea.

Do not rent here. It's not worth your frustration.
