Living in this place has been a total nightmare from the beginning. Moving here from out of state I had to take their word on things, which isn't worth a darn. I was "told" that I was renting the "luxury" model..WRONG!! When I got here, the one bathroom has huge strips of paint peeling off the bathroom wall, the vanity cabinet was broke, doors/drawers missing, the sink had a big burn on it from a curling iron, burners on the stove bent so bad when I put a pan on the burner it would go sliding off and into the middle of the stove. They were fixed to where the water/oil now just does the sliding..all the way to one side of the pan. There are cracks in the ceilings and walls, the sliding glass door has no security lock (even after I asked for one to be installed), the sliding glass door won't even open and shut with it ALWAYS coming off the track, you have to "fight" with it everytime you open it. Cold/Hot air rushes in through the windows and doors, in the winter time we freeze our ass off in here. The railing on the balcony has color crayon drawings all over it and so does the door that goes to the storage area off the balcony, which by the way was FILLED with rat feces when we moved in!

The floors throughout the apartment are sloped and filled with almost like holes, dips that one is so bad that it twisted my ankle stepping on it. Gives you the feeling that you're going to fall through the floor! I had to scrub paint off the floor in the entry way and the kitchen from where it had been spilled on and nobody wanted to clean it up! When the balcony above us was repaired they filled my balcony with a whole load of busted up concrete, dirt, pieces(large and small) of wood, total disregard for the outdoor furniture and plants that I have of mine out there. When they painted the underside of the floor, the painter dropped paint all over my floor, lawn chairs, plants, and cloth tablecloth I had on my table!

The ice maker quit working..a necessity when you have to bring your own water jug to use at work during the summer with all that heat to work in..I asked them to fix it...after being told that they would, it's been over two months...I'm still waiting!

The laundry area after looking at the pics online was VERY DIFFERENT!! I have NO ROOM to even open my dryer door all the way..it hits the washer right across from it...nice! I have to stand on the OUTSIDE of the laundry room to take my clothes in and out of the machines! My laundry room door has been busted from beginning and my frig door hits the pantry doors across from it...NO ROOM TO MOVE!!!

Shortly after we moved here, there was a shooting out in the parking lot. The neighbors upstairs have purposedly run their sink/tub over three times leaking in our apartment almost collapsing the ceiling twice! When I called the office they had what they always have here....A "I DON'T CARE" attitude!! The maintenance guys are very friendly, it's the office and management that don't give a darn...until you're late on your rent. A neighbors was short around 13 dollars, BECAUSE their company didn't send out the rent coupons so we would KNOW what we had to pay, so he paid what he thought it was. A couple of days later, they attached a note to his door telling him that if he didn't pay the amount due they were KICKING HIM OUT!!!

Our bathrooms have mold growing all through the walls where the water leaks all the time INSIDE of the walls...creating a health hazard that I'm afraid to even know about. The ceiling above my tub is about to collapse and was promised that they would be back to fix it after the latest bout with leaking...NOT!!

We haven't called the office with hardly any of these problems that I've mentioned above...WHY''' THEY DON'T GIVE A DARN!!!!! They WON'T fix the things we HAVE asked to be done!!

But to remind all of you....THIS IS THE LUXURY MODEL!!!!!

I personally, have been a resident at Burn Brae for almost 2 years, and I have had some of the same experiences as the person that wrote this review. However, I seem to have had a much better experience as a tenant here. Overall, the grounds are kept as clean as possible. I see maintenance and other staff walking the grounds on a daily basis, and they go so far as to even pick up those nasty cigarette butts that people throw on the ground. If you can afford the $20 for a covered/assigned parking spot, parking is just fine. If not, you only have to walk an additional 20 feet! I have also had the experience of living downstairs from someone who's let their tub overfill. Maintenance did everything they could as quickly as possible to get it repaired and cleaned up. Extra consideration should be given since our apartments are over 20 years old! You are looking at apartments that were made with materials that were new back in the 1980s. There is one experience that I feel I need to relate. My wife was taking a shower, and when she shut off the hot water, the knob broke off, shooting hot water straight out of the wall! Management and maintenance immediately responded to our emergency, and did everything possible to take care of the situation, to include inquiring about my wife with genuine concern. The wall tile had to be ripped out, so the bathtub faucet could be replaced. A quality job was done, and there have been no problems since then. Seriously, Burn Brae is not a bad property. Some of the tenants can leave a bad taste in your mouth, but then again, not everyone has common sense. All apartment complexes have those people that have no concern for their fellow residents, and will blast their radios at all hours of the night or drive like idiots. And for those that REALLY want a place to complain about, try living at the Garden Park Apartments! That place is NO garden, and it's CERTAINLY not a park! 5 out of 5 for parking and grounds. 4 out of 5 for maintenance, safety and staff. 3 out of 5 for construction, and 2 out of 5 for noise (we do live at the intersection of busy streets).

i cannot imagine anyone describing the burn brae office staff as having an "i don't care" attitude. they have always been friendly, professional and helpful with me. perhaps they've simply learned to take tenants who launch into histrionics with a grain of salt? i've been short on rent several times, especially at the beginning when they hadn't received my renter's insurance information and so were billing me the $10 a month for their insurance. they simply placed a note on my door letting me know i was short and asking me to pay ASAP. the one time i forgot to pay rent entirely, they waited a full 2 weeks before letting me know, which i found excessive considering the late fees, but the situation was my own fault. i'm not sure what all this business about a "luxury model" is about, since i've never heard of such a floorplan here. this isn't a luxury complex, it would be unreasonable to expect any kind of luxury apartment here. you want something that will make you feel like donald trump, go pay $1000 a month for a place in richardson or plano.
