My wife and I have lived in the Cabochon for 4 years, and have just moved out. The property is in a great location, and on the surface the lake views, lakeside sidewalks, pools and landscaping seem to be worth much more than the cost of monthly rent. However, if you look deeper, you will see the signs of decay.

Many of the buildings have foundation issues that will require extensive renovation to correct. There are serious mold issues. The parking garage in phase 1 by the leasing office has had raw sewage back up into the lower level twice in the past 4 months. Cars parked in the garage have had their wheels stolen in the middle of the night -- and the security gate to enter the garage has been broken for almost a year. The pools aren't kept up as well as they used to be, and it seems like the maintenance dept is doing the best they can to keep up the property on an extremely limited budget. Over the past 18 months, we have gotten the feeling that the management is less interested in really fixing things as much as they just want to hold it all together at the lowest cost possible.

It is a shame because these apartments truly were something special. As the property has slowly slid, we have put up with many of our own personal complaints because we loved our floorplan and lakeside location so much. But we finally hit the point where it wasn't worth putting up with the mold, general state of disrepair, and hit-or-miss employees in the business and leasing offices.

Two to three years ago, the Cabochon was a very unique property that was a joy to live at. Today, it feels like management is trying to make as much money as they can off this older complex while investing the minimal amount possible to keep it running. We'll miss it, but it's definitely time to move on.

I agree with the recent complaints. The 2 elivators is off and on, sometime it works, sometime is not. I even got stucked there once and was able to pull the doors with my car key and now the elivators is been down for about 3 weeks now. The apartment is not paying attention to it and when you call them they pretend no one reported the issue. Also, there's so many bugs, flies, even black worms that always appearing in my bathroom. I clean my bathroom all the time but I don't know where it coming from. Also, I see the worms appearing in my front door as well. I bought a spray killer but they keep appearing once in a while. Also, the gate is not been fix since I moved here for about 6 months now. They even sent a notice back on June that they will start locking the gates but never happened. Also, before I forget... The building fire alarm constantly going off. for 6 months living here, the alarm went off 3 time and the worst thing was it was in the middle of the night and sometimes 3am in the morning and no even sign of fire department to check the apartment. You just wonder if there's really fire on the apartments the worst thing the alarm stays about 30 minutes, I was so mad when these things happened because I have to wake up early to go to work. If you're planning on moving to The Cabochon Apartment, read these first and think about it......... I can't wait to get out of here..................!

I agree. We have had the same problems. What's worse is that I am pregnant. I will be filing my own complaint on this site.... I have a lot more to say!
