I lived at Camden Cimarron from Sept 07 to July 08. I chose the complex for several reasons. The first was the Valley Ranch neighborhood, which from what I have seen, is one of the nicer areas in Irving. Secondly, the complex had several ammenities that were important to me, namely a fitness center, in unit washer/dryer, and an attached one car garage. Overall, I was pleased with my experience at Camden Cimarron, although I did have one issue to resolve after I moved out.

The Positives:
- The buildings and grounds are well kept (in comparison to other complexes I have lived in)

- The staff was courteous whenever I went over to the apt office. They always asked me if my apt was OK, or if I needed anything done to the apt. I once took a survery (I think from the Camden Property organization, not specifically the complex) where I complained about the fact that the garage door didn't have a lock. A rep from the property contacted me a few days after filling out the survey, asking me if I wanted a lock installed. I said yes I would, and within a few days I had a lock on my garage door.

- The location in Valley Ranch is really nice. Canal walks and a park for recreation are just across the street.

- Apts are roomy, storage locker on patio / balcony, in unit washer & dryer, basic cable included in rent, attached one car garage (at least with my unit), pool, and fitness center were all nice ammenities.

- No bug problems while I occupied the apt.

The Neutral:
- No major noise problems from neighbors. My apt faced Valley Ranch Pkwy so most of the noise was from traffic there. Also, you will occasionally get a low flying jet heading for Love Field go over which are pretty loud.

The Negatives:
- Apt wasn't really ready when I moved in. There were tons of dead bugs that were never cleaned up, presumably after the apartment was treated by pest control. I borrowed a vacuum from the apt office (mine stuff was still in transit at the time) to clean it up. Ceiling fans and blinds were also pretty dusty I thought.

- Fitness center lock / door was busted so access was limited. Also, the actual weight equipment wasn't that great. Ended up hardly using the center due to access problems.

- I feel that they tried to extort money from me when I moved out. On my final account statement I had charges for stain removal from the carpet, and also for replacement of kitchen countertops. That apt was spotless when I left, definitely cleaner when I moved in. I am a postdoctoral worker in an academic lab (so basically a glorified graduate student). I work long hours for little cash. I take care of my stuff and the place I live, so when I see these kinds of charges randomly appear it really upsets me. Plus, I also take it kind of personally, like they are saying I'm a slob or something. Anyway, I talked to one of the people in the office about these charges. They had no pictures of the supposedly damaged countertops, nor could they tell me the exact nature of the damage to them, so they ended up dropping that. They told me the stains were supposedly in the bedroom and from leached woodstain into the carpet. I know that is total --------. I had three pieces of furniture in there(dresser, bed, metal file cabinet) and the wooden pieces were particle board base covered with fake laminate. Nothing was natural wood that was stained. However, they refused to remove that charge. When I was inquiring about the stain the office worker let it slip that is what their cost is to clean the carpets, so I suspect they just charged me so they wouldn't have to pay it out of their own pockets.

So overall, a good place and I guess I would still recommend it, just with a warning to take precautions to protect yourself from extortion when you move out.
