There have been several car break ins within the past 2 months with no efforts from the Management to do anything. I spoke with Lily at the office and Genie at ConAm office and both say that no body is liable for anything. Genie said"There is no security" no matter where you live and inspite of the break ins getting more and more frequent, the community tells the residents to deal with it! Furthermore, they told us in the brgining when we wanted to rent that there are security cameras on the front gate and now deny advertising cameras at all. Lily says that there were cameras until 2006 but Genie says there were never any cameras there, so go figure!!!! The management's lack of communication with the residents is shameful, as if they would have had a circular go to the residents when the break ins started, I believe that the mishaps that happened later on could be avoided. The ONLY compassion I got from Dakota Hill is the advise to pay more and get a garage, but there's no saying whether that will be safe or not!!!!!
We are Moving out as soon as our Lease Expires, and would advise anyone who wants to rent here, TO RENT AT THEIR OWN RISK!!!!!

I have lived here at Dakota since the Spring of 2006 and have never had anything stolen or missing out of my vehicle, yet again I would not leave anything that would tempt anyone to take anything. I know that the complex had a Safety Prevention meeting a couple of months ago and nedless to say only a dozen of us showed up to hear what our beat officer had to say in reference to our area and gave us safety tips. I also did not know there were ever any cameras on the gates at least they did not tell me that when I rented my apartment.

WELL, WELL, WELL I must applaud your dedication to fighting against anyone who complains. I am certain that you are not just someone you lives at Dakota Hills, but probably some one close to the management. Dakota Hill's ratings have gone down DRASTICALLY within a year and if you are such a huge fan of the community, I will encourage you to go ahead and read what other people have said about this complex and it's management......... If a large number of people are complaining about the same thing, then I don't think all of them are wrong. Maybe you need a reality check!!!!!

Well, any one can have a break in. You can have your car parked at Target and it get broken into and Target isn't liable, either. I mean, who is liable if your house gets broken into? You are. From what I see with Dakota (and I'm a current resident at Dakota Hill) they do everything they can to make it safe, they have the gate and we all have the remotes, not codes. And you can program the alarm in your apartment, too. I love it here at Dakota Hill and was never told anything about cameras and think this is a really safe area and there may be a reason certain areas are getting vandalized (ie, leaving doors unlocked, iPods out in cars, etc).

I am very disappointed in Dakota Hill also, in every aspect. First leak problems and now our vehicle was broken into. I can't wait to move out!!!!!!!!

You are not going to be safe anywhere. As long as we live in a society where the police will not investigate anything unless there is a death or serious injury, then we will have problems. No management company will take responsibility for crime because it is too costly to hire a security company. The all mighty dollar is the only thing that is important to them or any company for that matter. It's every man for himself ;D . Just try to move somewhere where there is the least number of minorities. That will be your best chance of not becoming a victom.
