I've been living here since 2006, and I just finished reading most of these reviews..While I disagree with most of the negatives I will admit there are some issues - but, no matter where you live or rent there will be things that aren't they way you like it.
I have to COMPLETELY disagree with anyone who says the property isn't safe. I live by one of the pools (one of the police officers who works at the apartment lives in the building across from mine) and I always see him walking around in his uniform and with his squad car. I'm not saying crime doesn't happen - my apartment, when I first moved in, was burglarized. The courtesy officer was there BEFORE the actual on-duty police even arrived! And that apartment was on the third floor overlooking the shell station - yeah, the last apartment you'd expect to get robbed. But the point is, this happens everywhere.
Recently I've been hearing about some foreigner (yeah, if you choose to rent here be prepared - you will be surrounded by Arabs/-------/wherever they come from) who claimed to be robbed at night or something and made a big to-do about it. Honestly, Dakota Hill is RIGHT next to 635, a 24 hour Shell Station, Starbucks, etc etc. There is always constant activity and movement - I have never felt unsafe, and If I do, I have a little mace spray and a cell phone on which I can call 911!
I just think most people overreact when some "minor" crime occurs. Yeah, its going to happen. Is it the apartment complex/courtesy officers fault' NO! They can't prevent it and can't be around all the time...
On the parking...yeah...I have an assigned spot and STILL have to walk for three minutes all across the complex to get to my apartment. But its ok, I knew that when I rented it.
