We moved to Eagle Crest this summer. The apartment was remodeled, had brand new appliances, and is all-around pretty nice for the $. We did have a problem with our washer/dryer installation but that was mostly a disconnect between maintenance and the company that provides the appliances. It took maintenance about 3 visits, spaced out over 2 weeks, to get the problem fixed. This stuff will happen on occaision so I wasn't very tempered over it.
Everything seemed to go fine until our downstairs neighbors moved in. These neighbors will play loud music/video games/movies from about 8pm to 4am and are just loud in general. We have notified the police, called the office, and even appealed to them to be a little less noisy. None of this has been to any avail and the office wont do anything about it but say "We'll look into it". At this point, we've chalked it up as something we're going to have to live with until the end of this lease.
---> People, if you're going to live in an apartment, spend your money on a decent set of headphones and not speakers. That way you wont get upset when your neighbors ask you to do the proper thing and not turn the speakers up to a level that's noisy. <---
All of that aside, I'll cover the genreal areas everyone else has been going over in their reviews.
Crime:
I've noticed alot of problems with criminal activity. The police are here on a very regular basis and it seems to get worse every day. I think the property management/staff should take this up with their risk mangement department because it's looking like these visits are repeats and it's time to start weeding some of these people out of here.
When it was warmer, there were nightly parties in the hot tub area. During these parties people (most of whom do not likely live here) would smoke dope, be loud, and leave behind broken beer bottles/drug paraphenallia.
I believe that another catalyst adding to the criminal element at Eagle Crest is the line of cars waiting outside of the gate in order to tailgate someone at all hours of the night. Access cards cost 15$, and you can always call the apartment number from the gate box if you do have a reason to be here. Either these people are over their limit on access cards and can't get another for the person that needs access, or they can't reach the person that they are visiting. In either event, they don't need to be in the complex. There's no way that many people leave their access cards at home on a daily basis.
Yet another catalyst is the gaping hole in the fence next to 7-11. One evening, at around 2am, I had to retreive my cell phone charger from the car. This was a bad idea as a was approached by someone (that came in through that hole) and asked me if I wanted to purchase some "crack".
Most of the security problems here can be somewhat remedied by fixing the hole, hiring an after hours security patrol, and forcing EVERYONE to either get gate access by using the callbox or the badge reader. Then if the security happens to notice someone tailgating, he can call and have that vehicle towed, even if they have a badge and were just too lazy to use it.
Fixing the rest will have to be through better screening and more efficient use of police incident reporting. IE: evicting those people that have regular visits by cops.
Staff:
The staff is really hit or miss. Always know this, THEY DO WANT TO HELP YOU. Any notion to the contrary is rubbish. Sometimes they just might not be able to provide help for whatever reason.
Apartment:
Okay I see all of the stuff on this board about bad foundations and walls being painted over to hide stuff. Really I dont care. The apartment is in overall good physical condition. To the person that complained about the location of the wall jacks, that's your own fault. I noticied that when intially seeing the apartment as should you have. There is plenty of room for a TV up to 46" next to the fireplace.
Maintenance:
The maintenance is ok. I'm sure they're slammed and overworked. The only real knocks on them are 1) I wish the had better communication with the office staff, and 2) they should clean the pool more often.
That's about it. At the present time I can't recommend Eagle Crest to anyone, and I am not going to stay here beyond my lease. I just don't feel safe enough.
