Great Location, Insensitive Management, Bad Maintenance

FB is in a great location; walk to Super WalMart, Movie theatre, decent park etc... BUT (a big butt) the management is lousy. I signed a rental agreement with a specified deposit amount. On the move in day, they refused to give me the keys unless I gave an extra $100 deposit! ON THE DAY I WAS MOVING IN'''!! I mean, I was there with a truck and my stuff and some guys is giving me a story of how Upper management (who were sitting inside another office listening) wont let me have the keys. At Fb, there's this guy who works in the Office. Honestly, even though I think he has a nice personaliyt, he is the guy management uses to give 'Stories'. His favorite line is "there's nothing I can do. The Managers wont let me." And when you ask to see the manager(s) he says, "Well, they can't do anything for you either Sir."
And this happens everytime you need something done. They guy shows up. Management will never see you unless hell is breaking loose. I HATE THAT! So yeah, this is pretty personal.
My apt leaked several times and even soaked in Water from the foundation. They called Carpet Cleaning guys but I had to wait till Monday. it doesn't matter how badly you need maintenance, you'd better not need it over the Weekend coz you'll not get any. You think they'll tell the next guy who rents my apt that it soaked water from the foundation, through the carpeting but that they still took three days to get someone to come over. And here is what pissed me off the most - my wife had to use a small steam vac we bought to clean furniture coz it would have started smelling.
The heat/fire detector hasn't worked the whole time I was there and it's not because they do not know. Maybe the soaked carpet will stop the fire from spreading too far!!!! you think'''
The kitchen sink leaks but they always fix it with used parts. It at the point where I've had to learn to do some minor plumbing coz I know what a hustle it will be to try get it fixed
But the one thing BIG you gotta watch out on is this; If they offer you reduced rent, it comes with a price. If you are ever late with your rent, they will demand that you pay any discount they offered you when you signed the lease plus late fees. That means if you have been there six months and you get a $200 discount, if on the seventh month you are late on rent, you will pay $200 X 7 months plus late fees in one lump sum. This has not happened to me, thank God, but is'nt there a law against this kind of thing' If not, shouldn't there be one'
