Simply Awful...Don't Even Bother

Living at the Garden Plaza property is a lot like attending a Mexican circus: not enough elbow room, too many bad smells & no one speaks English.

The manager is a two-faced busybody who would prefer to rent to only hispanic migrant workers becasue she can push them around without fear of reprisal. Speaking as one of the few former caucasian residents of Garden Plaza, I found it annoying & intrusive to put up with the manager's monthly 'inspections'. Funny how hispanic residents never got monthly inspections that I could see. I found out a year after leaving this dump that the manager only does this to folks she wants to evict becasue they're not hispanic.

During the seven years I lived there, anyone who made any type of offical complaint to a housing authority in order to get what they paid for was suddenly evicted becasue the manger 'lost' their water & gas bill payment, or a portion of the rent.

The rent goes up by $15 to $30 every lease renewal, without any added amenities. Becasue of the insane demands of the manager, maintenence workers cycle in & out constantly. One lasted only an hour before quitting in complete dismay.

I paid for two reserved parking spaces every month with my rent...and then had to actively defend my ability to park there on an almost daily basis becasue the spaces were not marked in Spanish.

Bathroom tiles: three different colors, five differing textures.
Bathroom fixtures: All used & paint and spackle spattered.
Appliances: old, shoddy, beat up & recycled from another property owned by the same company.
HVAC: If it breaks, just move out. It'll be easier than trying to get it fixed.
Dumpsters: right in front of the doors. Smells just dandy in high summer!
Landscaping: couldn't get to my front door every day without being scraped raw by the overgrown holly bushes.
Security: Property has a red iron gate that cuts the parking lot in half every night and all weekend long & makes it impossible for the cops/fire/EMT's to get to your ampt. if needed there. Police are frequent visitors to this property, due to the crack house customers from the apmts next door constantly jumping the fences and hipanic 'machismo' wife beating.

If you like folks knocking on your door trying to sell you tamales at all hours, then by all means, move right in. This apmt. property should be renamed to "Irving's Little Guatemala".
