I originally moved to valley because of their pet policy. They allow large dogs up to 100lbs which was nice but thats where it ends.
I have never had any contact with the management staff until recently and was disgusted by their attitude and behavior. I have two dogs, and I live in an area surrounded by angry single mothers with small children. I work 12 hour days, 6 days a week and discovered that my dogs where being harassed while I was at work. I have caught the neighbors children banging on my windows to scare my dogs when they thought I was not home, and even pulled up to the front of my apt to find the apt manager looking in my window causing my dogs to jump up and damage my blinds! HOW NICE, however I have never bothered complaining. Recently, while I was taking out the trash, a neighbors small child opened my back door and let my dogs out! Where was his mother you ask' Well, I saw her on the way to the dumpster on the otherside of the building! After a brief arguement with the boys mother, the young boy admitted to opening my back door and letting my dogs out. I thought about filing a complaint, however I just shrugged it off and figured I would make sure to lock my door from now on, but boy was I wrong! The following day I recieved a lease violation from the apts stating that my "animals were running loose on the property and bothering the neighbors!" I called up there to clarify the situation, figuring that they would drop the violation after knowing the circumstances, however, I was wrong. I was treated like a child and plainly told that they didn't care that the woman who filed the complaint knew her son had let my dogs out. They also proceeded to tell me that I was "not allowed" to file a complaint against the woman and her child because there is not a city ordinance stating that mothers must supervise their young children but their is an ordinance stating that dogs must be on a leash at all times. Funny, because i'm sure that there is some kind of small national law that puts parents in responsibility of their small children, lol. After speaking with the apartment manager and getting nowhere, I finally gave up. I told her I was aware of all pet policies and will comply from here on out (even though I have been complying the whole time) and hung up. Moments later, I recieve a call from my father. It seems that the apartment manager took it upon herself to call my father, who is listed as an emergency contact and not on my lease, and inform him that I am refusing to comply with the apartment rules and regulations. The funny thing about this is I am 24 years old! I have a 4 year college degree, a good job and I pay my own bills! I guess she thought "daddy" needed to give me a little scolding, lol. I am now using my bachelors degree in journalism to file a formal complaint against the neighbors and the office staff for harassment, age-discrimination and sharing of confidential information. So far its 5 pages long. Hopefully the people higher up will give them "a little scolding!"

i was recently turned onto this site to read the comedy of comments and was surprised to see this caption. my thoughts? for openers, i will tell you that i am the mother of that "small boy" and what has been written about the situation is entirely incorrect. the area in question is a courtyard in the center of three buildings that several lower level patios face. i will mention that these patios do not have the typical gated enclosures but are open to the courtyard area. myself, along with the other "angry single mothers" moved into the gardens and this particular area because of the safety of the courtyard and being able to watch our children play - ALWAYS supervised. all was quiet on the western front until the author of this complaint moved into one of the corner units. the dogs the owner speaks of included a pit bull and some other bull terrier that i'm pretty sure did not fit within the guidelines for pets allowed. second, the owners were under the false impression that they had moved into a house with a backyard and felt it was appropriate to open the patio doors and allow their dogs to yes, "run free" in the courtyard and yes, crap all over the place without picking up after them. i will admit to calling management in an attempt to at least hold "cherrysundae06" accountable for cleaning up after her pets but to no avail. the incident written about occured because "cherrysundae06" had uncontrollable dogs jumping at the back patio door and were successful in nuzzling the sliding door ajar, breaking free at which point they chased my son and another little girl in circles until the owner - in a rather delayed response - came out with her accusations. i can assure you that our children were WELL away from the dogs and their patio as they were already afraid from previous incidents. i know this because i have never left my son or his friends to roam free and they certainly know better than to approach two aggressive dogs on their own terf. the fact that these people did little to keep their animals in check says nothing about the abuse the dogs faced being left alone for "12 hour days, 6 days a week" - it is no wonder they were aggressive in their attempts to escape the confines of the apartment. we all have to make the most of apartment living for what it is worth and it is unfortunate that these tenants failed to be respectful in more than one aspect and never once considered they were sharing space with several other people.
