I've lived in apartments all over the country for almost half my life. BELIEVE ME, this complex is decent - considering the age (circa 1986), price & location!
Location & price were big factors for me. Amenities: workout room, pools were important. Granted - the Management & staff are not the same as when I leased in summer of 2006. Trimarchi had just bought/taken over, I believe.
Carpet & counters are being replaced as residents move out. I should have insisted on new carpet, but, overall, I'm relatively content. I could do without the trash compactor - doesn't work well & have requested that they remove so I could have more cabinet space, but was turned down. Kitchen could use more cabinets!!!
Seems to be a high turnover in staff (in my 40 years of employment, that usually means pay, working conditions are not conducive to loyalty). Some individuals on staff are more 'on the ball' than others. Work requests are usually handled in a timely manner, albeit, I wonder about the qualifications of the men who perform regular HVAC repair/maintenance.
My husband & I are in the minority, culturally, @ Jefferson Park. I work in a diverse atmosphere, so I know that different ethnicities (predominantly Indian, Pakistan, Turkey) socialize/have different customs. Would be nice to KNOW who my neighbors are - for safety factor alone.
It's my understanding that Verizon has some sort of 'arrangement' with JP and there are many short-term residents. Some have little or no furniture, so it doesn't seem that JP cares about keeping apartments filled long-term. Probably more financially advantageous to keep turning over the apartments. Just my opinion.
In closing, I would advise ANYONE to keep records of all communications with managment. WE've signed the lease for 2nd year, but will see how things are next summer. I LOVE the red brick exterior, our balcony overlooks the park/canal, it's convenient. Every apt.complex has issues - that's life. I'm proud to say that I live @ Jefferson Park!
