I moved into Rancho Mirage in March of 2002. Although pricey, the community is near my office and offers a lot of amenities. In the last year, several managers have come and gone and the complex has slowly fallen in quality. When I got locked out of my apartment on a Sunday night, I waited for three hours after calling the answering service before a neighbor took me to my girlfriend's place of employment to get a key. Other calls to the answering service, especially in the last year, have been equally frustrating. After sitting on hold for five to ten minutes, the operator is often rude and unhelpful. The response time is much too long (such as the five times that my toilet has become clogged). My new upstairs neighbor plays their music loud enough that I can make out individual lyrics from within my bedroom. The apartment office does nothing but send them notices. Finally, though a trivial item, the stucco exterior of the buildings has been dabbed with big splotches of paint for the last month or so. All of my guests have pointed out how trashy it makes the community appear to be. Recently, I received a renewal notice and they're going to increase my rent again. I wouldn't even consider staying in this complex in less they knocked over $200 off the monthly rent. It's simply too expensive for the current state of the complex.
