Absolutely the worst possible place to live

This complex has been a nightmare to live in. I'm just glad that we only signed a four month lease, and I'm surprised that we've stayed this long. To begin with, the night before we were supposed to move into our apartment (January 22) Angela calls us saying that we cant move into our apartment (830 sq ft) for another 3 weeks because there's a hole in the kitchen floor. From the very first day that we walked into that office I had them reassure me that it would be ready on January 23 because I had a funny feeling that it wouldn't be. So we ended up settling for less (713 sq ft) just because the prices were the best that we had found close to Northlake College, which is were we go. The appliances are at least 20 years old and our bathroom smells like mildew due to the caulk coming up in the bath tub. The night we had that ice storm, our plumbing went out. Our toilet overflowed and our bathtub or sink would not drain. There was no way that we had clogged it and tried to plunge it but nothing worked. So we called the emergency line and maintenance said they weren't coming out because it wasn't a major issue and the weather was too bad. So here we are in an ice storm having to drive somewhere to use a restroom. A plumber finally came the next day and talked to maintenance and when we asked maintenance what was up, they said it was just clogged. Well the same thing happened the next month, the plumbers came out again and informed us that the pipe was broken under our apartment, and they said that they told maintenance about it, meaning that maintenance lied to us. This issue is an ongoing thing and it has happened every month. About 2 weeks ago, our fridge went out so when we called maintenance about the issue, it took them over an hour to get to our apartment to fix it, leaving us with thawed out frozen food. They are just lazy and unmotivated to do their job. Parking is another problem. There are never any open spaces and right now maintenance is working on the apartment across from ours so there is a huge mound of dirt covering about 6 parking spots. Bottom line is that I don't know how anyone would ever want to rent from here, and I cant wait to leave May 20.

i hated staying there. a pipe burst n our apt and flooded every room and then on top of that either maintenance or the carpet repair people robbed us ! i would love to gather up a bunch of people that have left bad reviews and sue the piss out of colonial properties. i wonder if it can be done? well anyway good luck and theres no way your next place of residence can be worse than remington hills.

December 1, 2008
To whom it may concern c/o Remington Hills at Las Colinas:
I reside in unit 1231A approximately 2 or 3 months ago the water heater broke in the unit above me causing a major water leak in my unit. The water seeped through the walls in the dining room as well as the hallway in front of the laundry area. The following day someone came to pull the carpet padding in the hallway and a small area in the dining room, I expected them to return later that week to lay the new padding. Maintenance was aware of the situation at that time as they were in my unit that day observing the damages.
Mid November I completed a written work order request since no one ever returned or indicated there was any intention to return. On Wednesday November 26, Ron, with Remington Hills Maintenance, acknowledged he had received that work order when he overheard me speaking to someone in the leasing office. I was voicing my concerns because no one had addressed my written request. He said he had the work order and someone would be there on Friday November 28, 2008. As of December 1, 2008 this work order has still not been completed.
I stopped in the office Saturday November 29, 2008 and spoke in detail of my continuous problems I have with getting a maintenance request fulfilled. I was told I would be called Monday December 1, 2008 so a date could be scheduled for someone to come in and see what work needed to be complete. Honestly that isn??????t necessary but I agreed as I am a very patient resident, unfortunately no one called today as I suspected would happen.
I have been a resident for many years and there have two other occasions when I have been given the run around regarding my maintenance request, I also have another letter I had to write from one of those instances. This work is simple and should be done in a timely manner without excuses the same why I am expected to pay rent without excuses and in a timely manner.
Padding needs to be laid in the hallway where it was pulled up 2 months ago and the very visible water stains on the walls and ceiling of the dining area need to be painted. I have a guard dog in which has been used as an excuse to not complete the work I have requested. I am flexible as well as extremely patient because of this inconvenience. I have told the staff several times written and verbally to call me and schedule a date to complete work. I believe the word schedule has been misunderstood several times but I remain patient. This doesn??????t mean call me when you are standing outside the door.
I am only asking for someone to call me with a few days notice. I can leave the dog on the patio which will allow maintenance to come in and out as they please. In my written request from mid November I wrote that I was available for the week of November 24-Novmber 28 this would have been the perfect time to have this work done and I did that in advance to ensure, in vain, the work would be completed.
Furthermore, the subflooring which has been something I have spoken to maintenance about several times is a big issue as I have a hole the size of a basketball in my hallway which I have almost broken my ankle in twice and recently the front door knob is about to fall off. This knob was supposedly fixed 3 or 4 months ago.
I would be more than ecstatic to be released from my lease without penalty however I am sure that Remington Hills would not allow that. If that is an option please let me know I would prefer to not wait to May of 09 to move. Have someone address this urgent stale issue of simple maintenance or release me from my lease early without penalty. I have several solutions to this ongoing problem and again I am very flexible and patient if someone would just work with me even 1%!
~needless to say they released me from my lease without penalty. They decided they didnt want to do my repairs my lease wasnt up until May 09. I was more than happy to leave immediately. They didnt even give me the 60days they require for notice to vacate they asked me to leave in 30days which was fine with me.
