GOOD AND BAD

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
GOOD Noise level fine. Only when I had a migraine did the rap next door bother me.(I listen to rap myself) BAD The walls are paper thin. GOOD However the best water pressure ever!!!I will miss it. GOOD I read on here before I moved in about the parking so I made sure and get a covered parking spot ($25/mth.) I happen to live in the bld up front next to lease office (only 2 stories not 3)and my friends have never had a hard time finding a place to park and there are more unused coverd parking than used on this side. They also gave my boyfriend a free parking sticker for his 'show truck' and when he comes over I park in general parking and he uses my spot. They made an exception (I do not see how it matters who parks in that spot we cannot both park there at the same time!the space is the same)
BAD When I moved in 12-12-05 I moved in on wet carpet which I was promised 'personally' would be handled so I did not have to move onto wet carpet.(by Felix no longer there) BAD Then I realized my things that they let me store in a garage there had been flooded 2 days before from a water main breaking during the Phase II build. GOOD Beverly the manager then had 2 staff members help me get my stuff out of the mudd (extremely thoughtful and helpful I was completely over whelmed) and gave me my first months rent. I thought that fair since I should have had renters insurance but did not. (rent refund after I went to Regional manager)
GOOD Everything was great for several months Nicole and Beverly very nice. Maintance staff very helpful and friendly.
BAD Then Rodney the head maint man left and the management staff replaced by new people and temps. Asked for an air filter for 3 months and to caulk my tub so mold wont grow in crack. Was told 2-3 weeks later when I went looking for an ETA on the situation that after Rodney left they did not have enough staff to keep up and had to 'ditch' some of the more frivolous orders. So I asked if I could just get a new air filter since I had not had a new one since I moved in six months ago. Excuses. Finally I got the nerve to look and see how bad it was. I am sure it had not been changed since the place was built. GOOD I went to new office staff Ana told me it would be handled and 2 days later it was.
You have to give a 60 day notice so I went in and asked them not to raise my rent the $40 they were raising everyone elses because 1. I do not have a storage closet like everyone else (did not realize until move in day)BAD
2. I consistantly pay my rent 2 weeks ahead of time.
3. They have not been responsive to simple maint. request for the last 3 months.BAD
This was at the 60 day ahead mark. That day I was ready to sign a new 6 mth lease if they removed the $40.
Monday Ana said she was shocked I did not have a storage closet and will speak to manager. come back tomorrow.
Tues Ana said manager was never in. Come back tomorrow! (like I have nothing else to do w/my days)
Wednesday I was busy, Thursday I go in to see what the response and Ana not there and new person Bonnie has no idea of situation and no heads up in my file. I told her was already disapptd in this 4 day event. She promised to call me before 6pm and leave a message w/answer. No message. Go to office on Friday Bonnie said left you a message this morning. That was not her promise. And the message said "come in" that is not an answer. Ask to speak to manager. New manager too busy closing out books w/corp to save my acct so left unsatisfied. So now I am busy looking for somewhere else to move to. Friday this week now a week behind the 60 day mark. Ana asks me if we do not raise the $40 will you stay' I try to explain to her my issue that NOW- no, but would have last week. She now says my notice will count from today because I did not tell her I was moving out last monday! (because I can not get an answer to my question)I stated maybe sign a month to month then if they show me better cust serv I might stay. She stressed me out by pressuring by saying we try to prelease so you may not be able to resign later. I was so mad I left and said just get me out of this ****place.
BAD Part of a pillar where you get your mail is missing and has been since I moved in, never replaced. (the drive thru mail bldg GOOD) Last week someone drove thru and damaged one side of entrance badly. Still there is caution tape up. Real getto like. I will miss my apartment but not the management.
BAD they try to get you to sign a bond instead of giving deposit. You do not get the bond back $90 and still have to pay if you owe for damages. So my deposit was $700 just to keep from losing $90. If better management/cust serv skills I would have signed another lease because I do love my apartment even though I do not have storage. I work w/2 other residents who also want to move because of management!! My neighbor who lives in a bigger apart said $100 is what they are raising his rent and he will not renew either.
UPDATE: GOOD Yesterday I spoke w/new assistant manager Brandy. She was understanding and listened to me. BAD But explained the 60 day notice of course has to start today when I handed it in. Will ask manager about rental increase (still no answer in file) GOOD Finally! Manager called me left message to come in today. Today again spoke to Brandy to get copy of notice from yesterday. She stated can resign lease within the notice time frame if want to. She said they do prelease but would try to move other person to keep me there. Also explained the reason behind the long repair time on post office building (the latest damage anyway) has not been fixed because waiting on insurance info first. Also stated weather you pay your rent on time, early or about to be evicted legally they can not treat you any different.
Still have to go back again to speak to manager since I did not have time to wait today for her.
GOOD I love stucco and our buildings are just that, very nice. Apt floor layout very nice, open kitchen, high ceilings, decent electric bill, cheap water bill, just make sure you get a storage closet! And single females try to get close to leasing office.
