ROACHES. Yes. All capitals is on purpose. This place was infested when we first moved in. If I would have noticed the roaches in the cabinets before I accepted the apartment I would have never signed a lease. There were hard to see behind the brown painted cabinets, they blended in rather well with that brown. They did spray, every week for 8 weeks. On three occasions we had to leave the apartment for the weekend because of the stuff they sprayed. Eventually everything died and now things are in check. Now we only see one or two instead of 20-25.
Now, how else can I discourage you from renting here' This place IS Little India. With Verizion right down the street hiring more contract workers from India, this entire area is India. There is a nice park nearby, however it is completely taken over by -------.
Noisy neighbors are here too. From the Ghetto "fights" between "men" and "women" to the absent minded drug dealer with the car alarm that goes off every 45 minutes or so at all hours of the night (9pm until 3am are peak times for the car alarm), to the typical car stereo with more decibels than your average rock concert coming out of it with the windows down, its all here at Summer Bend.
Speaking of neighbors, where did these people learn to drive' Do they know what the lines mean' We have good parking, when our neighbors actually park inbetween the lines. Most times they don't and it ends up that 4 or 5 cars are hogging 10 parking spaces.
Speaking of the parking lot, its very dark and dimly lit. There are lights on the buildings, but they haven't seen a buld installed in them in a very long time.
Dog poo is everywhere. There is a policy for residents to pick it up, but no one does. They allow BIG dogs too. Rotweillers, German Shepards, etc. Not your little average apartment dog and his small poo. No, you get heaping piles of it, everywhere.
Don't expcet the management to do anything about any of it. Since I've been here (9 months) this place has changed hands 3 times and recently they have tried to go up on rent $250. Oh, did I mention the quality Microvave' It has more dials and buttons on it than would need to lauch a nuclear missle. Yeah, dials, knobs, and buttons on a microwave. In fact, the microwave, stove, dishwasher and trash compacter (Yes, ever seen one of those in awhile') is high tech, right from 1975, originally installed appliances.
While I'm on the inside of the apartment, I've been here 9 months, and there are light switches in two bedrooms and in the living room that I have no freaking idea what they control. I've tried everything and they don't control anything.
Original floors in the bathroom, covered with press-on tiles, that have shifted and moved and have started to come up with the water. So there are nice gaps in the tile.
While I'm on the subject of shifing and moving, expect nothing to be level. Door's don't hang level. Floors are not level. This is real fun in the bathtub, because the water on the back portion of the tub doesn't drain into the tub, but goes back against the wall, and forward toward the outside, so even if you seal the shower curtain, the water drips out the back and onto the floor leaving a nice little puddle everytime you shower. The unlevel floor is even more fun in the kitchen. Open the fridge door. It automatically closes back against you while you are trying to get something out.
So there ya go. You will love this place if you don't mind a few thousand german roaches, dimly lit parking lots perfect for that "deal" in the dark, don't mind car alarms in the middle of the night, piles of poo waiting for you in the grass, neighbors that can't park right, unlevel doors and floors, or if you really enjoy the applicaces from 1975.
