When I moved into the Summit in 2005 there were two very professional, helpful leasing agents working in the office. There are two different agents in the office now that I've had the misfortune to deal with on several occasions. I had to ask for a copy of my lease six times and then send an angry email to the home office before I finally got a copy of my lease; five months after changed apartments. I actually had to explain to one of the leasing agents that it was rude to treat someone who has spent over $20,000 with her business with such obvious disrespect. Shouldn't respect for your customers be a given' Not at Summit by Norstar. News flash: If you don't like dealing with the public on a regular basis, and if you do not have the ability to be polite to your customers don't get a job as a leasing agent. Once you sign a lease here the leasing agents will start to treat you like you're scum.
Additionally, there is dog waste all over the grounds of this property. There is even a family that ties their dog to the railing in a public corridor. It's out there barking and jumping on the people that walk by all day long. The grounds at the front of the property are immaculate but the grounds inside the gate are unkempt. My neighbors could open my garage with their remote control and vice versa. There were several times that I came out to see my garage wide open. This was never corrected even though I brought it to the property manager's attention. I mentioned to one of the leasing agents that I had a mouse in my apartment, there was mouse waste all over the kitchen. She told me that the exterminator had just left the property and would be back in two weeks. I took care of it myself. It was horrible.
Predictably, when I moved out they attempted to collect money for carpet cleaning. Nevermind that the carpets were dirty when I moved in. I had to send them a copy of a videotape of the carpet that I made before I moved out. Don't let then do this to you. If a property management company retains a security deposit in bad faith they are liable for an amount equal to $100, three times the portion of the deposit wrongfully withheld, and any attorney fees and court costs. See Texas Property Code Section 92.109. (This is not intended to be legal advice to you; consult your own attorney.)
