A waste of a great location

This my first time to write something like this ever. I moved here because the lakes and canals are unique and the grounds interesting. There are at least 5 restaurants within walking distance and a little market. Close to downtown. Very appealing. Unfortunately the management does not keep up with the grounds or the units. They have a sprinkler system but I have never seen it in use. There are many dead shrubs and trees. Even the grass is dying in some places. Everyone you talk to says the same thing "this place is going down hill". I've only been here a few months so I never experienced the uphill. Right now as I am writing this the pool outside my apartment is green with algae. It looks contaminated. It faces Lake Carolyn and is next door to the Mandolay. I did finally call to report the pool problem today (it's been green about a week). It went something like this "Cabochon, this is Inga" I give her my name and apartment number....pause for a response....silence...."the pool by my apartment is green"..."we're aware of the problem and the pool is closed"....more silence....That is basically what you can expect if you move here. It is July 21st and 100 degrees outside.
Also don't expect an ice maker or ceiling fans. The hot tub has never worked because managemnt thinks it's unsanitary. They aren't wired for cable, you must use Direct TV. That's your only choice. But the satellite only works from certain directons, if you face the lake, you probably can't pick up satellite. Surely they knew this when I was moving in but no one said a word. And if you have family or friends over they must never follow someone else into the parking garage, they must call you from their cell phone and wait for you to let them in. The only way for you to let them in is to walk or drive to the gate with your remote. You must be less than 10 feet from the gate for your remote to work, I've tested it. There is no other way for you to open the gate. No call box. The suggestion by management: have them park elsewhere and walk. It's a very long walk.
This is all very unfortunate because Cabochon has the best location and the grounds are extensive. All the other properties going up around Lake Carolyn are high rises with very little property. I think these units could work if they were turned into condos but they are not working as apartments anymore and that's the truth. There is a general air of disatisfaction around here and for me, I can't wait to get out.

I posted very negative reviews of the complex and moved out because of the poor repairs and staff. However, I think you are being a bit unrealistic. Ice maker and cable/sat? You are paying the lowest price in the area. You've got to expect some trade-offs. I agree a pool should be fixed within a week, unless there is some pump part that had to be ordered. As for me, I had black mold growing all over my ceiling and the walls in lving and bedroom. As far as the gates, what do you want? They shut after every vehicle as a security measure. That is the way they are designed. What would be the point of a security gate if anyone can tailgate tennants into the secured parking? Sure it's not perfect. However, you complain about the gates finally working properly, while there are dozens of complaints about the gates not even closing / working.

Thanks for your response. I have black mold as well and a terrible musty smell. You have misinterpreted me completely. I was not "complaining about the gates finally working properly". I am stating a fact that in order to let visitors in, you have to be at the gate with your remote control. There is no call box. Maybe I was being unrealistic about my expectations, I'm just not that apartment saavy. I'm just curious, if you have moved out why are you still interested in these reviews?
