this place is so terrible. i moved in with my mom last year and immediately i knew it would be hell. valley ranch is a great area to live in if you have a house. but most of the apartments here are government subsidized, which means low income families. i swear my neighbor has 5 or 6 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment. The walls are so thin, I can hear people using the bathroom, alarm clocks, telephones. maintance has been the only good thing.
There are about 15 or more 12-20 year olds outside past midnight all hanging out in groups, leaning on peoples cars, playing basketball and football in the parking lot (even though there is a park right across the street), yelling and banging on stuff. The washers and dryers are almost always broken and the laundry room smells like urine and weed. I honestly dont feel safe being out there after dark.
The people that live here have never had anything nice or good parental examples (even parents scream from the third floor to their kids in the parking lot), and therefore, dont know that they should respect other people's property and be considerate. Everyone here is always loud, day and night. People play their bass so loud that i know what song it is. I cant study for tests or even have a decent nights sleep.
My lease expires in a month and I'm so happy. I know my new place will be better, because anything is better than this.
I understand that no one is going to be happy in an apartment. But I have lived in apartments most of my life, and this was absolutely the worst. Don't be fooled by the new coat of paint. Save your money and find something better in Las Colinas or Lewisville or anywhere else.

To comment about the low income properties in valley ranch there are only 3 complexes that accept government subsidized, and for you to over state that is irresponsible and dishonest, you did tht the right thing by moving to a better place for you.

I live in those apartments. Yes, they are section 8. And, there are plenty of kids (and adults) hanging around in the parking lots and making noise, but have you ever gone out on your balcony and said "Hey could you keep it down, please? Thanks." You'd be amazed how treating someone with respect and dignity can change your relationship with them. I have never lived in apartments where I could not hear at least some degree of my neighbors' activities. That's a product of apartment living, not low-income living. Don't behave as though you are the mightiest person to ever grace this complex. There are some people with very little who have done a great deal just to sustain their life as it is within these gates. Maybe they don't have the same lifestyle (I'm guessing race either) as you do, but welcome to the real world. Some people have to live in these apartments, because we can't afford better. That doesn't mean we wouldn't rather be somewhere else, just like you; everyone is working. And, for you to scoff at people's leisure activities (albeit annoying when you're trying to sleep) is ridiculous, if they're getting on your nerves let them know it's bothering you. Do you really think they thought "Hey let's go out in the parking lot and annoy people!" No. They're just having a good time. I guess you've never gotten on anyone's nerves, accidentally. Besides, you act is if there is nothing but gutter trash living here. Most of the people living here are struggling families who are either working in a legitimate career or receiving some kind of training. If you have the resources to move, then by all means move; just keep in mind, not everyone has money. Some of us are students, some of us are displaced by Hurricane Katrina, some of us are disabled. But, we're all just as good as you are, just not as vain. |

Be careful asking the kids to keep it down....you may end up with a broken up car...or worse yet, shot. These kids have zero respect for themselves, why are they gonna care about me?
