Be VERY careful of a west facing apartment and check for vent placement. I lived upstares in a very large one-bedroom by the gates and my living/dinning room was unbearable. There were two vents by the kitchen and NONE in the rest of the "great room" and I burned up in the summer and froze in the winter. The cracks in the bedroom didn't bother me much but there were a lot of them in the garage too. There was NO parking for more than one guest and that was if you only had one car. Bad, bad, parking......

I was really lucky because I was downstairs and it was my garage that faced west. My windows were north. The very sad thing is that I could NEVER open my windows because the a/c units for ALL FOUR apartments on that end were placed directly in front of the windows. Since the upstairs people pretty much had to run them 24/7 because of poor insulation and incorrect unit size/strength, it was way too noisy.
