If you want to get extorted live at the Winsted

I lived at the Winsted for almost a year. I was supposed to move out according to my lease two months ago. I was in the process of buying a house and had two contracts fall through. I continued to pay my lease, was never late always on time. The apartment was upset at me because they had no commitment from me other than I was paying my rent and continuing to house hunt. I found a third house did an accelerated close and moved. I had the apartment professionally cleaned and the carpets cleaned also at my expense over $300 spent. I got a bill for almost a $1000 after I moved out claiming I did not clean the apartment and they had to replace a small portion of carpet in the living area. I called them and said I would pay over $250 which I did and four months later I get a collections letter. I have lived at 3 apartments for over 12 yrs. in DFW and never had an issue. They were clearly upset and feel they can retaliate and extort money from me. I have excellent credit and do not appreciate nor should I have to tolerate this riduculous dollar amount. The Winsted received almost $14,000 from me for rent, but I guess that was not enough. I would not recommend this apartment for another reason, my electric bill averaged $250-300. I live in a 2400 sq ft house now and my bill averages $220 a month. Terrible insulation and very inadequate A/C units at the Winsted and if you don't believe me drive the property and you will see for yourself. Stay away unless you want to get harrassed by unprofessional people and their unethical practices.

Yes, the AC units are very undersized and you have terrible electric bills. My apartment was 750sf and it cost more to heat and cool that it does my c.1982 1190sf house. They were ramping up to extort money from me, but I caught them unlawfully entering the apartment before I relinquished it. They were going to try to charge me for a few nail holes in a wall that was cracked from one end of the room to the other due to their bad foundation problems. It had to be patched and painted in a zillion more places because of that than my nail holes.

I agree with the reader above. The utility bills are really huge. Also, while the rents are here are dropping and vacancies are increasing, they are trying to get me to pay $150 higher than the market rate.
My Dec bill was $508 and my summer bills were in the $350-450 range.

good god people. my house of 1,400 sq. ft doesn't even cost me $100 during off-peak months. run away from an apartment complex that rips you off like that!

i havent received a bill yet, but you pick your own electric company, so you really cant blame the apartments, they have no control over that.
