I lived in these apts for about a year and a half, and i was so disappointed. Of course, it was my first apt. but i was lets just say less than impressed. I see so many people fearful of onpost housing at fort hood, well im exstatic to be moving on post, because i was so worn out from this apt. First, the parking was horrible, most nights we had to park a building away, then walk with our hands full of groceries. Next, strange people just came to your door, one man knocked whom i thought worked there, asking if we could hang out! Then on numerous occasions, two men with a truck would come trying to sell meat to you. Another time, i wanted to go swimming while the pool was still open, and this was after the migration of crickets, and the pool hadnt been cleaned in a while, they said you can get the net and clean it! HELLO! I DIDNT WORK THERE! So, i had to spend an hour cleaning out this pool while the women that owned the apt complex sat in the air conditioner. Whenever i had to talk to the managers, and went to the office it was always closed, during normal business hours. Once, our water heater broke after one of the maintenance men was messing with it, and two weeks later, our carpet was soaking water, the heater broke! It damaged our wood furniture(which was cheap but still the fact that it shouldnt have busted) and our carpet was molding and matted after that. We ended up having to pay a 400 dollar electric bill due to this disaster, and living paycheck to paycheck on a pvts income 400 dollars is alot. Regardless to say, the managers basically told us too bad, and we have finally finished paying off the loan we had to get so our electric wouldnt be shut off a year ago. The facilities were worn down, in the wash room half the washers and dryers were broken, most without DO NOT USE signs, and no intention of replacing them for the year and a half we spent there.I felt like someone could break in to our cheap apt at any time, there was nothing that i was impressed with. Our air conditioner and heater had problems the whole year and a half, causing many unneccessary headaches. The furniture in our "furnished" apt was made in the 70's and was so poor! Im not a very physically strong woman, but i could fold the bed in half with no problem. The only thing that we didnt have problems with was bugs. Since most people that live there smoke, like everyone that lived around us, there were cigerette butts all over. The ladies left us a warning, saying that if there was any more cigerette butts laying in front of our house(keep in mind there are apts on the second floor) that they would charge us $10 for every one that they had to pick up! I dont even smoke! There were loud fights and parties, and cops would patrol, i was just very disgusted. Im so happy that i never have to deal with these people again, and hope that no one else has to deal with the crap that i had to put up with.
