OK so we had no choice when moving from 1600 miles away and doing all transactions over phone or fax. out of all the available complexs in Kingsville this one is has the best outward appearance. square foot per dollar is great and the only complex with 4 bedrooms units as well. the nieghbors are friendly and our area is pretty quiet. granted we have 2 small kids but our area has only teenagers so no kids running around making noise outside. Its close to my husbands work as well. Downsides- 3 weeks before moving they called and said my exact apartment wasn't going to be ready and i would have to push back my moving date. come to find out the people actually didn't move out of that apartment at all. move in was at 2pm(or keys handed over) they didn't shampoo or paint the kitchen until like 1 hour before and they waxed the floor about 10 mins before 2pm. so when i did the walk through it was quick and rushed because everything was wet. movers were coming bright and early the next morning and my carpet and kitchen cabinets were still wet. lets just say because of the humidity they were both wet for 1 entire week. poor scheduling i think! so my house smelled musty for about 3 weeks. oh and we can't open the windows because all the screens were bowed out making easy access for lizards, bugs and kids falling out. so i was forced to run the AC. everytime i turned a corner the next few days something else was broken or poorly fixed. there are way too many to list but lets just say my discreapnacy list was FULL. you turn in work order forms to the management and then they should come by and fix things. i turned in 11 forms the 1st week i was here, listing repairs by room. few things were fixed and i just turned in 8 more forms on jan 21st and have not had any response now 2 weeks later. in the lease it does say that after turning in work order forms twice and allowing a reasonable amount of time to have passed to allow them to fix the items we can terminate our lease. we signed a 1 yr lease but really we have no choice. looking at the comparables in the area this is better. if they would supply the maintence staff with proper suppiles and tools to do the jobs and proper qualifications they wouldn't have a problem. they hire JOE SMOE off the corner and don't have enough hands. Capstone realty is the owners and i think they are just cheap, too cheap to provide labor and materials.
oh yeah there are asbestos in the tile of the homes. we are told that its only harmful if you crush up the tile and breathe the dust. they quickly mention it while signing the lease and make you sign an amendment.
OUR RECENT RUN IN FROM A PREVIOUS CEILING PATCH RESURFACING HAS RESULTED IN TERMITES, ALIVE, AND POSSIBLE MOLD. THE ODOR WAS MUSTY AND DANK. AFTER AN OVERNIGHT AWAY AT A HOTEL THEY RELUCTANTLY PAID FOR, THE SMELL WAS WORSE. INSULATION WAS BLAKENED AND SO WAS SOME OF THE SHEETROCK. AFTER DEMANDING A MOLD TEST THEY AGREED TO SEND IT AWAY IN THE MAIL. WELL MAIL ISN'T GOING TO TELL YOU THE SEVERITY OF THE MOLD AND HOW FAR INTO THE REST OF THE CEILING IT HAS SPREAD. SEEKING HELP FROM LOCAL HEALTH DPEARTMENTS HAS CONCLUDED IN NOTHING. I HAVE NOW TAKEN IT TO THE MEDIA AND HOPING TO GET THESE SLUM LORDS UP TO SPEED ON THE CONDITION OF THE BUILDINGS. THEY SEEM TO THINK EVERYTHING IS BLAMED ON AGE AND THATS JUST NOT ACCECTABLE. OUR 3 MONTH LONG BATTLE WITH MICE MAY JUST BE GETTING SOLVED AFTER THE PEST CONTROL COMPANY TELLING THE MANAGEMENT ITS THIER FAULT FOR NOT CLOSING UP ACCESS POINTS OR EVEN INSPECTING FOR ACCESS POINTS. IT DID LEAD ME TO CATCHING 20 MICE IN 3 MONTHS AND HAVING TO TAKE THEM ALIVE UP TO THE OFFICE TO PROVE MY POINT.

Wow! I will be moving to the area to attend A&M, and I see little hope for a suitable place to live. Do you believe that this is the 'best' option for apartments in Kingsville? I cannot seem to find much in that area, especially quality!
