Disclaimer:
Anyone who reads online reviews should understand that MOST people who are angry and want to talk crap about a complex (or product) will jump onto the internet and do so. MOST people who had a good experience probably aren't so motivated to go out and share it, so always take online reviews with a grain of salt.
I've had both positive and negative experiences at The Preserve, so here's a fair and balanced review for you.
My review:
I finally decided to leave the mothers nest of bunking with my roommates and get my own apartment. I found The Preserve, toured, and couldn't resist the price. When I first arrived I had a 1 bedroom 2nd floor unit in one of the "middle" buildings (on the left side when entering the complex). My neighbors were absolutely horrible from day one. I had several young dudes living above me who constantly stomped around like three year olds and every night around 10PM they would life weights or something and cause extremely loud, consistent banging throughout my ceiling. It was like clock work, from -----'s watch at least. This "banging" noise went on night after night, I lost so much sleep and dealt with an angry girlfriend every day. I hope it wasn't man sex. Anyways, after getting fed up I called security numerous times who did absolutely nothing. The next few days passed then I had a huge scratch on my car that looked rather intentional, so I ended up DEMANDING a new apartment and moved to the far end of the complex, furthest away from 59. I was told by the staff that "older, quieter people" live on this side and so far I couldn't agree more. I am happy to say that I am now 100% happy here.
Now that I have normal neighbors, this place is awesome! You really can't find such a good apartment for the price. I now live on the third floor and I have the vaulted ceilings style unit. I love it. The only really bad part is lack of parking, but I've always managed to find a spot. The management here is a bit unorganized, but I enjoy my privacy and honestly I can live quite well without having them in my business. They typically respond to service calls within the second or third attempt, I've only had one since living here for nearly 1 1/2 years.
I recommend The Preserve at Kingwood. I have never had crime problems, even though things did get a little crazy when Ike hit and we lost power. My neighbors were brainless idiots who apparently didn't have to work. They wandered around like it was a little New Orleans in this complex, but when the power came on they all got back to being worthless indoors again and haven't bothered me since.
Just remember that getting a good apartment depends largely on BLIND LUCK because it depends on what kind of neighbors you get stuck with. If you get party animals, then you'll hate life unless you share their love for being unemployed. Always DEMAND to move if you have noise issues. Also, it helps to be above everyone. :) 3rd floor is nice if you don't mind the walk. It tends to filter out fat people too. No stomping sounds.
Thanks for reading. Now, move here.
