Friends Palace, honest opinion of apartment complex

I don't live in the apartment complex but my friend does and I have visited her. I toured the place to see if we would like to move their. My girlfriend has no problems and loves living there, the maintenance is quick and friendly, I met one of them when I was visiting. They have always fixed anything she needed right away. The apartments themselves are old and the buildings do need tending. Along a path I saw an open electrical center box laying in the mud, the open view underneath the apartments where the bees and whatever else lives under there was the turn off for me, as well the walls outside where moldy in some spots. The floors are uneven because the buildings sit up from the ground and you can feel the wood under the carpet. It was cleaned and no roaches or anything, it is an older complex, they are very friendly and do their best, many people love their neighbors and feel safe and welcome. The biggest turn off for me is that you hear everything, the walls are so thin you can hear the convo like a tv. The second largest thing was the hot water heater is in the second bedroom, very unsafe and especially since we have a four year old. The noise level was to high as well, with music you can hear before you find a place to park. Good price for a small place, friendly. If you have too, go ahead, but if you can afford better or have a little one that needs to sleep, go somewhere else.

You lived there before the new management took over. Let me tell you Aimco is a wonderful company to lease from, this new company isn't impressing me at all. There is no longer quick service, even for something so simple as an AC filter, you might wait a week or more, for the more complex problems, more than likely a few weeks or more. They have painted the place this awful yellow and black, it sticks out like a sore thumb. The new managment is "renovating" the inside of the apartments, but, with the paper thin walls and ceilings, the closet kitchens and bathrooms, the noise levels, I would not pay the difference they are asking. Also, there is next to no insulation. Expect high utility bills. I would recommend elsewhere.

I never lived there, my friend has for more than two years. I have heard from my friend that things have changed, it is really sad too, because a lot of people just loved living there, and I rented a different Aimco property for six years and had no problems at all. I would agree, I would choose somewhere else as well. At least they are pressure washing and painting. The inside of the apts are getting new wood floors and appliances. The worst is the higher utilities and the noise now. Last night I was on the phone with my friend, and on the PHONE I heard the loudest bam and I asked if she was okay because I thought she fell! It was just the neighbor, no consideration at all, and no seems to care.
